Job description

Salary: $100,000 - 112,500 per year

Requirements:
  • We are looking for someone with seven to ten years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure management, or a similar senior IT position.
  • We need strong hands-on experience supporting Microsoft-based environments, including Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • We require experience with networking, virtualization, storage, cloud platforms, and backup technologies.
  • We expect a solid understanding of cybersecurity practices, security controls, and risk mitigation.
  • You should have a proven track record of troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure and systems issues.
  • We need experience coordinating IT priorities, workloads, and escalation paths.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and prioritization abilities are essential.
  • You must be able to manage competing demands in a fast-paced professional setting.
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment is considered an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills are important.
  • You should be comfortable balancing technical, hands-on work with operational coordination responsibilities.
  • Clear, professional communication is required.

Responsibilities:
  • We maintain and support our core IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud services, storage, and enterprise systems.
  • We ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of systems across both offices.
  • We oversee patching, upgrades, preventative maintenance, backups, and disaster recovery processes.
  • We monitor system performance, capacity, and infrastructure requirements.
  • We identify opportunities to improve reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
  • We maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, and system records.
  • We support and enforce our cybersecurity controls, policies, and standards.
  • We monitor the security posture of our infrastructure and cloud environment.
  • We identify vulnerabilities and coordinate remediation efforts.
  • We assist with security audits, compliance requirements, risk assessments, and incident response.
  • We work with internal stakeholders and external providers to strengthen our security environment.
  • We establish and coordinate daily and weekly priorities for our IT team.
  • We manage workload distribution, coverage, and escalation processes.
  • We provide technical guidance and direction to other IT team members.
  • We help ensure technical requests, incidents, and projects are handled efficiently.
  • We act as the operational point of contact when our Director of Technology is unavailable.
  • We serve as the final escalation point for complex infrastructure, systems, and network issues.
  • We lead troubleshooting and resolution efforts for critical technical incidents.
  • We provide hands-on support for high-priority and business-critical matters.
  • We guide team members through advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • We participate in occasional after-hours support for scheduled maintenance or critical incidents.
  • We coordinate with technology vendors, consultants, and managed service providers.
  • We assist with evaluating, selecting, and implementing new technologies.
  • We monitor vendor performance to ensure services meet our operational requirements.
  • We support technology projects, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
  • We maintain awareness of future capacity, security, and technology needs.

We are a well-established, full-service British Columbia law firm with approximately 120 employees across our Vancouver and Surrey offices. We are committed to delivering a high standard of client service while fostering a professional, collaborative, and supportive workplace. This is a full-time, permanent, fully in-office position, and hybrid or remote work arrangements are not available. The role supports both offices and may require occasional after-hours availability for critical incidents and scheduled maintenance.
