Job description
Adecco is currently hiring an HSE Coordinator for a full-time opportunity in Richmond, BC. This role is ideal for a health and safety professional with construction industry experience who is passionate about fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting project teams in maintaining safe and productive worksites.
In this position, you will support the implementation of health, safety, and environmental programs, conduct inspections and investigations, facilitate training, and work closely with site leadership to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and company standards.
  • Pay Rate: $80,000 - $100,000 per year, based on experience
  • Location: Richmond, BC
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Employment Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Responsibilities
  • Support site supervision with the implementation and management of the company's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) program.
  • Collaborate with site leadership to develop and promote a proactive safety culture across the worksite.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to field personnel on HSE policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Identify, document, and ensure effective control of workplace hazards.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported, investigated, documented, and followed by appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintain and monitor site HSE statistics and records.
  • Assist in planning and mobilizing new projects by developing site-specific safe work practices and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain HSE communication boards to ensure safety documentation is readily accessible.
  • Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment are available, maintained, and replaced when necessary.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and follow up on action items.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, hazard assessments, and field observations to ensure compliance.
  • Review hazard assessments, inspection reports, and safety documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and project teams to address HSE concerns.
  • Coordinate site orientations, safety training, and maintain accurate training records.
  • Support the administration and continuous improvement of the company's COR program.
  • Provide regular updates to management regarding safety issues that may impact project execution.
  • Perform additional health and safety duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).
  • Valid Level 2 or Level 3 First Aid certification.
  • 3-5 years of HSE experience, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and construction industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively deliver training and presentations to large groups.
  • Experience conducting site inspections, incident investigations, and hazard assessments.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with unionized and non-unionized workforces.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO) designation is considered an asset.
  • End-User Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry & Monitor, and Standard First Aid certifications are considered assets.
  • Willingness to travel and work out of town on project assignments when required.
