Job Title: Component Technician
Job Description
The Component Technician disassembles, cleans, sandblasts, paints, reassembles, and tests electrical motors and generators, ensuring all work meets technical specifications and internal quality standards. This role focuses on maintenance, repair, and overhaul of components, while maintaining accurate records and adhering to established procedures and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble, clean, sandblast, paint, reassemble, and test electrical motors and generators to required specifications.
- Complete all maintenance, repair, and overhaul work on components in accordance with technical documents and company procedures.
- Operate, maintain, and continuously improve competency in the use of all workshop test equipment and machinery.
- Ensure full compliance with all company, regulatory, and manufacturers’ procedures and quality standards.
- Accurately process and complete all maintenance records, documentation, and reports in a timely manner.
- Complete all required in-house training and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant processes and standards.
- Uphold and comply with established quality systems and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify parts requiring external rework and process them appropriately for outsourcing.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on components and systems.
- Use hand tools and workshop equipment safely and effectively for repair and assembly tasks.
- Perform repetitive lifting and handling of components as part of daily duties, following safe work practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the workshop and office to ensure smooth workflow and effective communication.
Essential Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical motors and generators repair, including disassembly, inspection, and reassembly.
- Experience with hydraulics, valves, and mechanical systems in a maintenance or repair environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues on components.
- Proficiency in component identification and understanding of component engineering principles.
- Competent use of hand tools and workshop equipment for repair, assembly, and testing.
- Strong English proficiency with clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience or familiarity with aviation electronics, aviation maintenance, engine maintenance, and engine components.
- Understanding of aviation assembly, aviation parts, and aviation electrical systems.
- Background in maintenance technician work or building maintenance is an asset.
- Ability to perform repetitive lifting and physical tasks safely and consistently.
- Strong computer aptitude to work with maintenance records, reports, and internal systems.
- Well-organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Self-motivated, hands-on, and comfortable working with people at all levels.
- A strong work ethic and a desire to build a long-term career in the aviation industry.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Approximately 2 years of aviation mechanical experience is preferred, not required
- Previous component-level maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) experience is an asset.
- Displayed experience in technical aviation component MRO work is highly valued.
- Experience in environments involving electrical motors, generators, or similar rotating equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team-based workshop environment.
- Interest in continuous learning and completing in-house training to expand technical capabilities.

Work Environment
The role is based in a bright, clean, organized, heated, and well-ventilated facility with approximately 22 people on site, including 8–12 workshop colleagues and 8–10 office staff. Standard workdays are Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts, with the flexibility to work hours between 5 . and 5 . once probation is completed. The environment is collaborative and team-oriented, with close coordination between technicians and office personnel. Work involves hands-on tasks with components, use of workshop tools and test equipment, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a modern, well-maintained workspace.
