Data Analyst - Wealth Analytics

About the Role

Our client, a leading Canadian financial institution, is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join its Wealth Analytics organization. The team operates within a centralized Reporting, Analytics & Automation function supporting multiple lines of business, including Private Wealth, Insurance, and Investments.

The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and analytics professionals to analyze large and complex datasets, develop meaningful insights, and deliver reporting and dashboard solutions that support business decision-making.

This is an excellent opportunity for a data-focused professional with strong SAS, SQL, ETL, and Power BI expertise who is also interested in working in a modernizing analytics environment, with a longer-term transition toward AWS and Python-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, opportunities, and actionable business insights.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics requirements and translate them into effective data solutions.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance reporting and analytics solutions supporting Private Wealth, Insurance, and InvestorLine business areas.
• Build and enhance interactive Power BI dashboards based on evolving business requirements.
• Develop and maintain DAX queries and calculations to support advanced Power BI reporting and analytics.
• Write complex SQL queries to extract, transform, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources.
• Leverage SAS for data analysis, manipulation, reporting, and analytics.
• Work with ETL processes to integrate, transform, and prepare data for reporting and analytical purposes.
• Apply complex business logic and analytical methodologies to large datasets to generate meaningful insights for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate data, resolve data quality issues, and ensure reporting accuracy.
• Support the evolution and modernization of the analytics environment, including the organization's longer-term migration toward AWS cloud technologies and Python-based development.
• Document data processes, business requirements, analytical logic, and reporting solutions as required.
• Communicate analytical findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Work independently on assigned initiatives while collaborating effectively within a broader team environment.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Reporting, or a related discipline, preferably within the financial services industry.
• Experience within Financial Institutions/Banks
• Strong hands-on experience with SAS, SQL, and ETL technologies.
• Strong Power BI experience, including:
• Building dashboards and reports from the ground up.
• Enhancing and modifying existing dashboards based on new business requirements.
• Developing DAX queries, measures, and calculations.
• Proven ability to work with large and complex datasets and apply complex business logic to derive meaningful insights.
• Strong SQL skills, including experience writing complex queries and working with multiple data sources.
• Good working knowledge of Python, with the ability and willingness to expand Python skills as the analytics environment evolves.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud technologies and an understanding of cloud-based data and analytics environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Wealth Management, Private Wealth, Insurance, Brokerage, InvestorLine, or Capital Markets functions.
• Experience working in a large, complex enterprise environment with multiple business stakeholders.
• Experience with AWS-based data platforms or cloud migration initiatives.
• Experience transitioning legacy reporting and analytics solutions toward modern cloud-based architectures.
• Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and enterprise reporting standards.
