The Siemens Energy Canada Field Service Department for Gas Services serves a growing market of small and medium-sized gas turbines. Our field personnel service the fleet across Canada, the USA, and occasionally abroad. Our personnel are highly trained and perform at a high level of safety and quality to deliver OEM-valued service to our clients.
The Field Service Representative/Engineer – Controls FSR will report directly to the Product Line Operations or Field Service Manager and will receive day-to-day guidance from service coordinators or District Managers. The Controls FSR must have extensive knowledge and skills related to aeroderivative (AGT) gas turbines, instrumentation, PLCs, and programming. They should be capable of writing technical reports and participating in installation, commissioning, planned and unplanned service events, long-term service projects, or other activities as needed.
In this role, the Controls FSR will communicate directly with customer representatives, senior service engineers/reps, and technical support personnel as required. The ideal candidate will have a good familiarity with Siemens Energy equipment or possess transferable skills to attend customer installations independently. Support and guidance will be available from more senior FSRs and technical support staff, with the Senior FSR available for consultation when necessary. On-the-job training (OJT) will be provided as needed.

- Managing and coordinating controls and commissioning activities in accordance with correct standards and procedures.
- Perform “Hands on” controls duties in both an individual and team setting
- Maintain an accurate record of activity carried out on site – Produce written reports
- Carry out and/or supervise numerous testing procedures on all installed equipment
- Ensure all environmental health and safety regulations are upheld during all service activities.
- Carry out troubleshooting and be able to take instruction from Helpdesk or higher technical authority as required.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or a technical school diploma with 10 years of experience, residing near a major metropolitan airport in Canada with the ability to travel extensively, routinely, and without restrictions to the USA and abroad.
- Direct experience in Industrial AeroDerivative Gas Turbines with Transmitters (including Hart communication protocol), Device control loops (4-20 mA, 1-5 vdc, etc. Temperature monitoring devices (RTDs and thermocouples) Speed monitoring (magnetic pickup devices), Vibration monitoring systems (Bently Nevada, Allen Bradley XM), Fire and Gas monitoring and protection systems (Det-Tronics), Network communications (Ethernet) Serial Communications (Modbus).
- A working knowledge of Entronics Controls based systems including: FT-55, FT-100, FT-110,
- HMI working knowledge pertaining to WonderWare (InTouch) programming and Intellution (IFix) programming.
- Understanding of gas turbine operation, electrical generator operation and rotating gas compressor operation is necessary
- Experience with Rockwell Software (Allen Bradley) based control systems, including RSLogix 5000, RSNetworx for ControlNet, RSNetworx for DeviceNet, and RSLinx.
