We are currently looking for a Consumer Credit Supervisor to join our team in Western Region, Richmond, BC or Mississauga, Ontario.

Job Summary –
The Credit Supervisor, Western Region is responsible for leading and overseeing the daily operations of the credit adjudication team supporting Nissan Canada Finance and Infiniti Financial Services dealer networks across Western Canada. This role ensures consistent and sound credit decisioning, adherence to company policies and risk appetite, exceptional dealer service, and achievement of departmental performance objectives.

The position provides leadership, coaching, and development to Credit Analysts while managing workflow, escalations, and complex credit transactions. The Credit Supervisor serves as a key liaison between Credit, Sales, Funding, Risk, Collections, and dealer partners to ensure efficient processing of retail, lease, and commercial credit applications while balancing portfolio growth with prudent risk management.

The role is accountable for maintaining high standards of credit quality, operational efficiency, compliance, and customer experience. Success in this position is demonstrated through strong portfolio performance, timely credit decisions, achievement of service-level targets, employee engagement and development, effective stakeholder management, and consistent support of the organization's strategic business objectives.

Maintain a high-quality credit portfolio through effective risk assessment and policy adherence.
Deliver timely and consistent credit decisions that support dealer and customer satisfaction.
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Credit Analysts.
Achieve service level agreements (SLAs), productivity, and quality targets.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
Foster strong partnerships with dealer partners, Sales, Risk, Funding, and other business stakeholders.
Support portfolio growth while balancing credit risk and operational efficiency.
Identify and implement process improvements that enhance effectiveness and customer experience.

A Day in the Life:

Job Responsibilities –

  • Lead the daily operations of the Western Region Credit team to ensure timely, consistent, and policy-compliant credit adjudication decisions.
  • Supervise and support Credit Analysts by providing direction, guidance, and assistance with complex credit applications and exception requests.
  • Coach team members through regular feedback, performance management, training, and development activities to enhance individual and team effectiveness.
  • Monitor application volumes, workflow distribution, service levels, and productivity metrics to ensure operational objectives are achieved.
  • Review and approve credit decisions within delegated lending authority while ensuring adherence to company credit policies and risk appetite.
  • Evaluate complex retail, lease, commercial, and exception transactions to balance portfolio growth objectives with prudent risk management practices.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, audit standards, and established operational controls.
  • Partner with Sales, Funding, Collections, Risk, Customer Service, and other stakeholders to resolve issues, improve processes, and support business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with dealer partners by providing timely responses, credit guidance, and professional support.
  • Resolve escalated dealer, customer, and internal stakeholder concerns in a manner that protects company interests while maintaining positive business relationships.
  • Analyze portfolio trends, credit performance indicators, and operational metrics to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Recommend process improvements, policy enhancements, and operational efficiencies that improve service delivery and strengthen credit quality.
  • Communicate credit policies, procedures, and business initiatives to team members and dealer partners to ensure consistent understanding and execution.
  • Support the implementation of new programs, products, systems, and strategic initiatives within the credit function.
  • Conduct quality reviews of credit decisions and documentation to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to established standards.
  • Prepare management reports, operational updates, and portfolio analysis to support leadership decision-making.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure adequate coverage and effective workload management across the region.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement within the credit team.
  • Identify emerging credit, operational, and dealer-related risks and escalate concerns appropriately to management.
  • Contribute to the achievement of departmental objectives, portfolio performance targets, customer satisfaction goals, and overall business growth initiatives.

Who We’re Looking for:

Required:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

Experience

  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in automotive finance, consumer lending, commercial lending, credit adjudication, or financial services.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory, team lead, or people management experience within a credit, lending, underwriting, or financial services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating consumer, lease, and commercial credit applications and exercising lending authority within established credit policies.
  • Proven experience managing dealer relationships and supporting business development initiatives while maintaining sound risk management practices.
  • Experience working with credit bureau reporting, financial statement analysis, income verification, and fraud detection methodologies.
  • Experience interpreting and applying credit policies, operational procedures, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of consumer and commercial credit principles, risk assessment methodologies, and lending practices.
  • Thorough understanding of automotive finance products, including retail finance, leasing, and commercial lending.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, performance management, and employee development skills.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of credit decisioning systems, dealer origination platforms, and reporting tools.

Certifications

  • Professional financial services, risk management, leadership, or credit-related certifications are considered an asset but are not required.

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset but is not required for the Western Region.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent credit decisions within delegated authority limits.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with dealers, sales partners, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Commitment to compliance, risk management, and customer service excellence

Desired:

  • Completion of leadership, management, or financial services training programs is considered an asset.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in automotive finance, credit adjudication, banking, or financial services may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Post-secondary coursework or training in lending, credit risk, financial analysis, leadership, or management is considered an asset.
  • Professional designations such as CPA, CFA, CFP, Risk Management Certificate, or leadership certifications are considered assets but are not required.

Specific Course/Certifications

  • No specific professional certification required.
  • Completion of company-mandated training related to credit adjudication, compliance, privacy, fraud prevention, AML, fair lending practices, and leadership development.

  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
  • Certified Credit Professional (CCP)
  • Risk Management Certificate or Certification
  • Commercial Credit or Financial Analysis Training
  • Leadership or Supervisory Development Certification
  • Project Management (CAPM or PMP)
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt
  • Advanced training in consumer lending, commercial lending, underwriting, or automotive finance

Travel Requirement:

  • Occasional travel (10–15%) within Western Canada and to corporate offices as required.
  • Travel may be required for dealer visits, sales meetings, training sessions, leadership meetings, industry events, and cross-functional business initiatives.
  • Ability to travel by air and automobile and maintain a valid driver's license and passport (if required for business travel).
