Job description

This position is responsible for energy and related supply and services procurement for the N/E facilities of Gerdau.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

The Regional Energy Manager is responsible for securing and maintaining competitive arrangements for the supply of electricity natural gas industrial gases fuels and similar supply and services necessary to meet the energy requirements of the Companys operations in a designated geography for example North Central South. However the designated geographies will change as the Companys needs change due to growth.

Qualifications for the position include a broad knowledge of energy purchasing utility regulation markets prices accounting procedures steel manufacturing energy uses and costs and supply sources. The incumbent should have a minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience and a four year degree or equivalent additional work experience.

The incumbent is responsible for analyzing developing coordinating and implementing effective procurement strategies; keeping abreast of conditions and forecasts in the energy markets; identifying and pursuing improvement opportunities; collaborating with plant management and personnel to assure effective implementation of supply arrangements; complying with established risk management accounting and related policies and procedures; and insuring the most efficient use of addition the position must represent the Companys interests in local provincial and national regulatory professional and political fora under the guidance of the Director of Energy. The Regional Energy Manager will also serve as a resource to plant management regarding energy forecasts communication and collaboration concerning commercial aspects of energy supply.

The Regional Energy Manager develops and maintains effective business and professional contacts to keep abreast of market conditions opportunities and trends while developing supply sources and maintaining favorable vendor relations. The incumbent will prepare requests for proposals contracts studies of relevant issues forecasts and maintain adequate files and records to compile periodic reports.

Incumbent studies and analyzes business unit consumption and requirements for energy and related supplies and consults with plant management and users in order to adequately meet operational needs. Plans purchases to take advantage of emerging market opportunities meet inventory goals and anticipate market conditions within established limits of authority. Obtains competitive bids as required and negotiates major supply arrangements under the general direction of the Director of Energy.

This position recommends administers and maintains company policies regarding energy procurement practices and standards to assure effective and competitive sourcing of relevant goods and services throughout the assigned operating units. Continuing contact and collaboration with plant personnel is required to maintain high standards of communication and professional practice.

The Regional Energy Manager will also communicate and collaborate with the other Regional Energy Managers and the Director to identify opportunities that cross international borders while also keeping abreast of activities or issues faced by their counterpart.

As directed the incumbent will serve as the Company representative in commercial regulatory and governmental activities necessary to protect and further the interests of Gerdau in areas related to energy. The incumbent will work with professionals consulting resources and counsel where necessary to secure specialized assistance as required and subject to an approved budget for such resources.

The major challenge of this position is to meet plant energy requirements while minimizing total long- and short-term cost to Gerdau.

In addition to these primary responsibilities the Regional Energy Manager will serve as a resource to plant management in assigned region for the purpose of providing expertise and assistance in the areas of efficiency energy use energy generation and related process-oriented matters.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Establish effective and competitive supply arrangements for energy for Gerdaus facilities located in the assigned geography

2. Monitor and maintain up-to-date market intelligence in relevant energy markets and identify opportunities.

3. Develop competitive supply sources and maintain favorable vendor relations.

4. Cooperate with plant management in order to maintain effective communications regarding needs and assure efficiency and effectiveness of commercial arrangements.

5. Resolve supplier and Company issues within the scope of this position.

6. Responsible for recommending initiating and carrying out company policies and programs.

7. Effectively represent Company interests in regulatory and political environments.

8. Comply with Corporate risk management policies regarding energy matters.
