Senior Manager, Business Analytics & Market Research - 12 months contract
Office based, 3 days a week on site
The Senior Manager, Business Analytics & Market Research will have overall accountability for analytics, forecasting, and market research aligned a business unit. This role is responsible for compiling, interpreting, disseminating, and presenting data and insight analysis utilizing various data sources including primary and secondary market research.
The Senior Manager, Business Analytics & Market Research will report to the Director, Analytics & Insights. They will be an integral member of the Business Unit cross-functional team; providing analytics, research, forecasting capabilities and other deliverables to ensure a thorough understanding of the business and market dynamics. This role will provide critical insights to support and facilitate strategic decision making within the business unit.
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
The responsibilities include and are not limited to:
- The generation and provision of reliable and accurate reports, analyses and recommendations to the business unit to support decision making from a thorough understanding of the market.
- Proactively partnering with the business team to understand research needs and develop the annual market research plan. Lead primary and secondary market research initiatives that address business unit insight requirements and forecast assumption testing.
- Support the launch of new products through detailed market research, KPI development and KOL identification.
- Understand respective business unit goals and develop analytics and KPIs to support performance tracking against these targets
- Lead the forecasting cross-functional team and process to deliver timely and accurate demand forecasts for the business unit product portfolio. Facilitate the cross functional collaboration of internal stakeholders (marketing, finance, market access, senior management, etc.) to develop solid assumptions to underpin forecasts, LE and budget.
- Responsible for developing and presenting the annual situation analysis for the respective therapeutic area, in support of the brand planning process
- Liase with regional and global counterparts to coordinate market research plans, KPI reporting and standardization of forecasting models.
- Provide a long-term view to the business unit based on comprehensive knowledge of the Canadian market and competitive landscape.
- Manage respective therapeutic area market research and data purchase spends against budget.
- Develop a network within Gilead global teams to identify best practices and leverage relevant information and approaches
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
- 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, or related field.
- 6+ year’s pharmaceutical industry experience demonstrating success in supporting the growth of a therapeutic area through sound insights and analysis.
- Demonstrated understanding of market research and analytics methodology and best practices.
- Demonstrated in-depth understanding and implementation of analytical modelling; forecasting experience an asset.
- Demonstrated excellence in project management and the ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong presence with ability to command respect through exercise of sound business judgment and clear decision-making.
- Experience with effectively communicating and negotiating with Senior Management.
- Track record of successful budget management with an understanding of expense budget planning and tracking.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams or work groups
- Proven superior planning skills, routinely anticipates and plans for alternative/unlikely scenarios.
