Job descriptionWe are a busy, welcoming family looking for an experienced, organized, and confident House Manager / After-School Nanny to help keep our home running smoothly while caring for our four school-aged children. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking, staying organized, and creating a calm, structured environment where children can thrive. We're looking for someone who is warm, dependable, takes initiative, and enjoys becoming an important part of our family's daily life. ## Schedule & Hours * Monday to Friday * Approximately **1:00 PM – 7:00 PM** (around 30 hours per week) * Start time may be flexible (between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM) for the right candidate * Occasional evenings may be requested with advance notice ## About the Role With all four children in school until approximately 3:30 PM, the first part of your day will focus on household management. Once the children are home, your focus shifts to after-school care, activities, and helping the evening run smoothly. ## House Management Responsibilities Responsibilities may include: * Preparing the family's dinner * Preparing and packing school lunches for the following day * Folding clean family laundry * Light tidying and organizing of the kitchen and main living areas * Resetting the kitchen after meal preparation * Helping keep the household organized and running smoothly We're looking for someone who is proactive, organized, and able to prioritize tasks independently. We don't expect every task to be completed every day, but we do appreciate initiative and good communication. ## Childcare Responsibilities * Picking up the children from school using the family vehicle * Driving to after-school activities and appointments as needed * Supervising our established after-school routine * Combining any uneaten items from the children's school lunches into a shared after-school snack plate * Serving dinner to the children * Supporting homework time and encouraging positive study habits * Helping the children stay accountable for their daily responsibilities, including unpacking their backpacks and putting away their own folded laundry * Creating a calm, positive, and structured environment that encourages independence, responsibility, and teamwork ## Our Family Routine Over the past several months, we've worked hard to create routines that help our afternoons run smoothly while teaching the children independence and responsibility. We're looking for someone who enjoys reinforcing these routines with consistency, patience, and encouragement. A typical afternoon looks like this: * Children arrive home, unpack their backpacks (lunch bag, water bottle, homework, etc.), and then enjoy some free play. * About 30 minutes later, everyone spends approximately 15 minutes at the table completing homework or reading. * The children can then choose to eat dinner or continue playing until the family sits down to eat. * Folded laundry is ready for the children to put away themselves with gentle supervision and encouragement. Our goal isn't perfection—it's helping the children develop confidence, independence, and strong daily habits while keeping afternoons calm, positive, and enjoyable. ## Ideal Candidate * Has experience caring for multiple children (experience with three or more is strongly preferred) * Is confident managing busy afternoons and multiple schedules * Enjoys cooking and meal preparation * Is organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently * Has a valid driver's licence and a clean driving record * Is looking for a long-term position where they can become part of the family If you're someone who enjoys both childcare and household management and takes pride in helping a busy family stay organized, we'd love to hear from you.
