Our valued client is seeking a Senior Network Support Engineer / Network Security Specialist (2 roles) to provide evergreening and operational support for a Cisco-focused environment
Our valued crown corporation client is seeking to fill two positions within their Network and Network Security Services team: a Senior Network Support Specialist and a Senior Network Security Specialist. Both roles will focus on evergreening initiatives, operational support, production deployments, disaster recovery validation, and continuous improvement activities within a complex Cisco and Azure-based enterprise environment. The successful candidates will work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain, support, and enhance critical network infrastructure and services while ensuring reliability, performance, security, and scalability.
Initial 24-month contract with strong possibility of extension in Ottawa, ON, Hybrid, 8 days on site per month (remote options available), 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
The selected candidates must have resided in Canada for the last 5+ years without leaving the country for 6 months continuously to be eligible for security clearance (Candidates who currently hold Government of Canada Secret clearance preferred).
Senior Network Support Specialist:
Responsibilities
- Play a key role in the operational team, with focus on evergreening and operational support
- Resolve complex cross functional technical issues in a timely manner
- Participate in the planning and execution of testing related to production deployment validation, performance, failover and vulnerabilities remediation, and disaster recovery
- Analyze the current solutions environment to identify deficiencies and opportunities for simplification as part of continuous improvements and evergreening activities
- Define and implement required upgrades and changes to address operational problems or new business requirements as well as support problem troubleshooting in Prod and non-prod environments
- Other related activities and deliverables as required
Must Haves
- 5+ years of recent demonstrated experience in testing and/or operations and/or development and/or integration in network management environments
- Minimum of five years of recent demonstrated experience with network equipment, specifically with Cisco switching and routing platforms (Cisco Nexus 9K, s, and APIC)
- Demonstrated experience in working with Azure Cloud Networking
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in IT Operations work, including the operational capabilities and typical challenges of IT Operations
- Demonstrated ability to support the full development lifecycle, including participation in continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes, from concept through implementation
- Demonstrated experience with scalable and highly available service-oriented architectures
- Demonstrated experience in working with Agile methodology
Nice to Have
- Demonstrated experience in working with ServiceNow
- Demonstrated experience in working with Cisco ASA and/or Checkpoint firewalls.
Senior Network Security Specialist:
Responsibilities
- Play a key role in the operational team, with focus on evergreening and operational support, and maintaining the integrity of network security controls.
- Resolve complex cross functional technical issues in a timely manner with particular emphasis on diagnosing and mitigating network security risks and vulnerabilities
- Participate in the planning and execution of testing related to production deployment validation, performance, failover and vulnerabilities remediation, and disaster recovery
- Analyze the current solutions environment to identify security gaps, deficiencies and opportunities for simplification as part of continuous improvements and evergreening activities
- Define and implement required upgrades and changes to address operational issues, emerging security threats and evolving business requirements, and support troubleshooting activities in both production and non-production environments.
- Monitor, analyze, and support the response to network security events and incidents, leveraging logs, alerts, and monitoring tools to identify root causes and recommend remediation actions
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that network solutions adhere to security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements, and contribute to strengthening the overall security posture of the environment
- Research, recommend, and implement automation best practices aimed at reducing repetitive tasks and improving operational efficiency, including the use of intelligent automation (IA) where appropriate
Must Haves
- 5+ years of recent demonstrated experience in network operations and network security, including testing, troubleshooting, and integration within enterprise network environments
- 5+ years of recent demonstrated experience with network equipment, specifically Cisco switching and routing platforms, Cisco ASA firewalls, Check Point firewall technologies and security management platforms
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in IT Operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, and handling of network security events and vulnerabilities in enterprise environments
- Demonstrated ability to participate in the development lifecycle, supporting continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes from concept through implementation
- Demonstrated experience designing, supporting, or working with scalable and highly available service-oriented architectures
- Demonstrated experience supporting, configuring, or troubleshooting network security controls, such as firewalls, segmentation policies, or secure network configurations, in accordance with security standards and best practices
- Demonstrated experience working within SCRUM methodology environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams using SCRUM practices and tools
