Accountant (18 Month Contract)

The accountant plays a key role in the accounting function by ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions and supporting the integrity of financial reporting. This position is responsible for core accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and transaction processing, while maintaining compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.

The accountant works independently within established processes and partners with internal stakeholders to ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial data.

Your Mission:

• Record daily and monthly financial transactions, including bank activity, general journal entries and other accounting transactions in accordance with accounting policies
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and intercompany transactions
• Perform monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
• Support month-end close activities, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation
• Investigate and resolve routine to moderately complex discrepancies; escalate more complex issues as needed
• Follow established accounting processes and identify opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency
• Collaborate cross-functionally to obtain required information and resolve transactional issues

What You Bring to the Table:

Education:

• Successful completion of post-secondary education in accounting

Experience:

• Experience with accounting systems (e.g., Sage 300) and Microsoft Office suite
• Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or financial operations
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes

Skills:

• Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Process-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and consistency
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
• English proficiency is required for this position to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders;
• Bilingualism (French and English) is required for this role

Compensation: At BioScript, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and is determined within a range. Our pay ranges are based on the local cost of labor benchmarks for each specific role, level, and geographic location.
