Position Description:

Join CGI's Canadian Legal Affairs team and play a key role in supporting one of Canada's largest technology and business consulting organizations.

At CGI, you'll work alongside experienced legal professionals while supporting a diverse national business. You'll have the opportunity to influence business decisions, handle complex legal challenges, and develop your career within one of the world's largest independent IT and business consulting firms.
If you're looking to move beyond traditional legal practice and become a strategic business partner, we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for an Employment Lawyer who enjoys partnering with business leaders, HR professionals, and legal colleagues to provide practical, business-focused advice in a fast-paced environment. •Draft, review, and update employment-related policies, agreements, and internal documentation.
•Monitor legislative and case law developments, proactively identifying emerging risks and trends and recommending practical actions.
•Deliver training and guidance to HR teams and business leaders on employment law developments and best practices.
•Partner closely with Human Resources, Privacy, Risk & Compliance, and other internal stakeholders on cross-functional initiatives.
•Support the Director, Legal Affairs, as needed.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Education & Membership
•Law degree (LL.B., J.D. or equivalent).
•Member in good standing of a Canadian provincial Bar.
Experience
•4+ years of employment law experience gained in private practice, an in-house legal department, or a combination of both.
•Strong knowledge of Canadian employment law, including experience supporting multiple jurisdictions.

What will help you succeed
•Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across legal, HR, and business teams.
•Excellent judgment and a practical, solution-oriented approach to legal issues.
•Ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable business advice.
•Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
•High level of professionalism, autonomy, and attention to detail.
•Business-minded with a collaborative, client-service approach.
