Current graduation requirements recognize at least one credit in a third language and learning one of these languages may also be used toward a . St. Louis offers up to 3 credits in each language and it take 110 hours of instruction to earn a credit. You will report to the Program Manager of the International and Indigenous Languages Program. General Description of Duties:Deliver the secondary school International Language curriculum in an in-person classroom Developing course materials and curriculum content in accordance with the Ministry of Education Curriculum document for International Languages Gr. 9-12: and ensure proper planning and follow up for the academic progress of all studentsUtilize technology in delivering the course contentEngage students in communicative, real life, task-based language activities which emphasize the 3 strands of oral, reading and writingIdentifying students’ individual learning needs and using a variety of instructional strategies including small group, individual, whole class, and co-operative learning experiencesEvaluating the progress of students and discussing results with students and parentsCreating annual reports of students’ performance and challenges, with recommendations for improvementEnsuring a safe academic environment conducive to learning in class and onlinePromoting positive attitudes towards, and encouraging enthusiasm for language learningParticipating in staff meetings, educational conferences, instructor training workshops, and extracurricular cultural events and activities Minimum Requirements:Hold a current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification (If no candidates with an OCT apply, other candidates will be considered for teaching assignments)Fluency (reading, writing & speaking) in the language taught Eligible to work in CanadaAvailable for in-person classes Desirable Assets:Intermediate & Senior teaching qualifications in the credit language Demonstrable evidence of instructing in the credit language A certification in language instruction from an accredited College or UniversityHours of Work: Wednesdays 5:30 - 9:00pm 3.5 hours/ weekRate of Pay: $56.80/hour for OC certified Teacher $50.36/hour Existing Uncertified (previously recognized by WCDSB under grandfathering provisions) $46.83/hour + statutory & vacation pay for New Uncertified $49.07/hour Occasional TeacherPlease be aware that applicants to St Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education are not required to be Catholic.
