Our client has engaged us to assist them in hiring a contract Design Systems Application Engineer (Windsor, Ontario). Hourly pay: $40.00 - $41.57

RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead interface between the Chief Engineering team and the Product Release Center, primarily responsible for managing system interactions and interfaces between components and subsystems of the Driveline System. Design Systems / Applications Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer for multiple programs.

• Serve as the Driveline System Hardware Owner, responsible for integration and overall system performance of EDM gearbox components.
• Coordinate with Design Release Engineers (DREs), Manufacturing, Suppliers, Development Validation Center (DVC), and Centers of Excellence (COEs) to support product development and issue resolution.
• Lead and schedule system design reviews, virtual validation reviews, and ensure CAE, DVP, and scorecard requirements are completed before prototype builds.
• Manage and facilitate DFMEA, DRBFM, CQI, and GIMS activities, driving cross-functional problem-solving, risk mitigation, and validation planning.
• Review and approve engineering change notices, ensuring lessons learned, engineering best practices, and project documentation remain current and aligned.
• Lead cost reduction and value optimization initiatives, while tracking validation status, quality concerns, action plans, and program deliverables throughout the development cycle.
• Support program planning activities, including resource forecasting, engineering budgets, technical reviews, and reporting updates to Chief Engineers and leadership teams.
• Maintain and communicate lessons learned, validation progress, technical risks, and follow-up actions to ensure successful program execution and continuous improvement.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related
• Experience with automotive product development, driveline systems, powertrain, eDrive, transmission, or gearbox engineering.
• Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams through design, validation, and production launch activities.
• Strong understanding of DFMEA, DRBFM, DVP&R, Root Cause Analysis, and engineering change management processes.
• Experience coordinating with suppliers, manufacturing plants, validation teams, and design engineering organizations.
• Knowledge of automotive development processes, quality systems, and product lifecycle management.
