- ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT: The Manager, Training and Standards, Motor Coach Operations is responsible for ensuring the effective development, delivery and oversight of training programs, operational standards and compliance requirements that support safe, reliable and customer-focused motor coach services. The position ensures regulatory compliance, workforce competency and continuous improvement across Motor Coach Operations. MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop, update and maintain operating procedures, training manuals and standard work practices. • Ensure compliance with legislation, company policies and collective agreements. • Identify training or standards gaps through incident reviews and implement corrective actions.
- • Integrate CVOR and motor carrier safety requirements into training programs, evaluations, coaching and operating procedures. • Maintain training and qualification records required for audits and compliance reviews. • Participate in audits, manage corrective action plans and support compliance monitoring activities. • Analyze trends in collisions, inspections, convictions and other safety indicators and recommend mitigation strategies.
- • Promote a safety-first and service excellence culture. • Provide coaching and guidance to trainers and operations leaders regarding standards and performance. • Collaborate with Operations, Safety, Fleet Maintenance, Human Resources, Labour Relations and regulatory partners to support operational objectives.
- • Ensure training programs support legislative and company safety requirements. • Support regulatory and internal training requirements including accessibility, emergency response and workplace safety. • Participate on Health and Safety and Collision Review Committees. • Support remedial and return-to-duty training following incidents or compliance findings. REQUIREMENTS: • University degree in Education, Transportation Management, Occupational Health and Safety or a related field and/or a combination of recent and relevant experience. • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a regulated transportation environment (motor coach, rail, transit, aviation or freight). • PRIDE Certification (Professional Instructor in Driver Education) preferred • Fleet Accident Investigation Certification or training • Led compliance initiatives, audits, and incident investigations to support regulatory adherence, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
- • Experience leading, coaching and developing employees. • Designed and implemented training programs, operational procedures, and competency based frameworks to strengthen organizational capability.
- • A strong understanding of legislation, regulatory requirements, collective agreements, budgeting processes, project planning, and performance reporting to support informed decision-making and operational effectiveness. • Valid Commercial Driver's License (Class B or C) is considered an asset. • Motor Carrier Safety Compliance Training with CVOR knowledge or equivalent. • Hours of Service and Electronic Logging Devices compliance training • Train-the-Trainer Certification as well as On-Board Safety and Emergency Procedure training are considered assets. • Knowledge of compliance auditing, risk management and adult learning principles. • Strong leadership, coaching, communication and project management skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Teams and SharePoint. • Commitment to health and safety.
