Job description

Schedule:

  • 5 days on 2 days off – On-site near Princeton, BC.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities can be adjusted for the right candidate, with coaching and mentorship provided by the project team.

  • Maintain the Project Quality Management Plan and oversee quality document control, ensuring procedures, inspection records, turnover documentation, and quality deliverables are complete, accurate, and aligned with project requirements.
  • Coordinate contractor quality management activities by receiving inspection and testing reports, participating in weekly quality meetings, and ensuring contractors and subcontractors comply with approved quality systems, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and project specifications.
  • Coordinate quality assurance activities for major civil infrastructure works, including bridges, haul roads, heavy earthworks, logging, site clearing, and mine infrastructure, ensuring documentation is received, reviewed, and distributed in accordance with Engineer of Record (EOR) requirements.
  • Manage quality documentation for high-voltage electrical systems, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), ensuring reports are distributed to the appropriate stakeholders and hold points are released in coordination with the Construction Manager.
  • Coordinate quality activities for mechanical systems, piping systems, electrical, and instrumentation installations by reviewing completion documentation, verifying inspection records, and supporting timely release of construction hold points.
  • Receive, review, and track contractor turnover packages in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Vendor Data and Document Requirements (VDDR), ensuring all required documentation is complete before turnover.
  • Administer the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process by tracking NCRs issued by contractors and Engineers of Record, monitoring corrective and preventive actions, and ensuring timely resolution of quality issues.
  • Support commissioning and project handover by coordinating punch list completion, validating turnover packages, assembling quality dossiers, and confirming documentation is complete for final acceptance.
  • Coordinate third-party inspection activities and work collaboratively with engineering, construction, procurement, operations, and client representatives to ensure consistent implementation of project quality standards.
  • Monitor quality performance throughout the project lifecycle, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and promote a proactive quality culture across the project team.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Quality Management, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant industry experience will also be considered.

Experience

5+ years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, construction quality management, or project quality coordination within mining, heavy industrial, infrastructure, or EPC/EPCM project environments.

Software Skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with electronic document management systems (EDMS), quality management software, Aconex, Procore, SharePoint, or similar document control platforms is considered an asset.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and construction quality processes.
  • Experience managing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Vendor Data and Document Requirements (VDDR), and turnover documentation.
  • Knowledge of quality management practices across civil infrastructure, bridge construction, heavy earthworks, mine infrastructure, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and water management systems.
  • Experience coordinating Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), inspections, and commissioning activities.
  • Understanding of non-conformance management, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM project delivery and quality documentation requirements.

Professional Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, consultants, Engineers of Record, project managers, and client representatives.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify quality risks and implement practical solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and promote a culture of quality.

Certifications

Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, PMP, or related quality certifications are considered assets.

Working Conditions

  • Field-based position located at a mine construction site.
  • Ability to work in remote locations and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to wear and work safely in standard personal protective equipment (PPE), including a hard hat, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and a high-visibility vest.
