Are you a passionate heavy-duty vehicle mechanics specialist looking to advance your career into a leadership role? We’re seeking a dynamic and meticulous mechanical shop supervisor to lead maintenance and repair operations in Clair, New Brunswick. This role offers the perfect balance between team management, administrative oversight, and hands-on technical work.

As the mechanical shop supervisor, you’ll have overall responsibility for the smooth operation and compliance of a fleet of approximately 15 heavy-duty trucks and trailers. Working at the heart of daily operations, you will lead a small workshop team (including a mechanic and a student) while maintaining constant communication with dispatchers, truckers, and drivers.

Bilingualism (French and English) is an essential requirement for the position of mechanical workshop supervisor. You will be required to interact regularly in English and French with internal staff, out-of-province transportation partners, and remote management.

Schedule: Flexible day shift from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. or 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Starting salary between 70K and 80K (depending on experience).

Advantages
Benefits of the Mechanical Workshop Supervisor position in Clair, NB:

• Attractive annual salary ranging from $70,000 to $80,000, depending on experience.
• 8% annual performance-based bonus.
• Annual allowance of $725 for a toolbox.
• Comprehensive group insurance coverage available from the first day of employment.
• Eligibility for the pension plan with employer contributions starting on day 1.
• Flexible daytime work schedule that promotes work-life balance.
• Cell phone provided by the employer and overtime pay for on-call duty.
• Vacation time allocated based on the candidate’s professional experience.
• Attractive corporate discounts available after 3 months of service.

Responsibilities
Your responsibilities in this role will include:

• Planning, coordinating, and supervising all daily operations of the heavy-duty vehicle repair shop.
• Leading, coaching, and developing a team of three people in the repair shop, including a mechanic and a student.
• Perform hands-on mechanical work, fault diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty vehicles and trailers (approximately 5% to 15% of the time or as needed for urgent operational requirements).
• Work closely with the transportation team (dispatchers, truckers, drivers, and yard operators) to maximize fleet availability.
• Manage the inventory of parts, tools, and workshop equipment using the COW Software system.
• Ensure rigorous tracking of administrative and compliance records for the fleet (IFTA reports, Red Flag program, registrations, orders, and invoicing).
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to respond to mechanical emergencies in the field.
• Ensure that high standards of health, workplace safety, and environmental protection are maintained within the mechanical shop.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, here’s what we’re looking for:

• A vocational diploma (DEP) in heavy-duty vehicle mechanics, refrigeration, or equivalent.
• At least 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty vehicles.
• Bilingualism (French and English) is required to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
• Must have your own toolbox to perform direct mechanical repairs.
• Ability to navigate a unionized work environment with diplomacy and firmness.
• Strong practical and hands-on skills in heavy vehicle mechanics, as well as hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical diagnostics.
