Responsibilities

  • Promote and provide a safe workplace, seek improvements, support Health & Safety Program.
  • Lead a motivated, efficient and engaged harvest team, focused on safety, log quality and operational performance.
  • Coach and mentor employees to ensure alignment with unit objectives.
  • Provide direction to operations supervisors, conferring with customers, consultants, contractors or suppliers.
  • Liaison between operations and planning to avoid operational delays and ensure efficiency.
  • Maintain a communications program to keep your team informed.
  • Develop and maintain a good rapport between labour, customers, outside agencies (MNR, MTO, stakeholders and First Nations) other users and management.
  • Report to General Manager – Forest Management, Northern Ontario East.
  • Participate in short term and mid-term planning pertaining to budget requirements, staff selection and projects to be undertaken.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Woodlands operation to maintain production targets, quality of wood product and wood supply for the Chapleau Sawmill.
  • Prepare harvest schedules, production statements and forecasts.
  • Responsible for investigations and reports such as cost estimates, harvest studies, unusual trouble analysis, etc.
  • Ensure that all operations adhere to the Federal, Provincial and Municipal Laws and Regulations.
  • Report and explain deviations from planned activities.
  • Recommend change/improvements to the General Manager.
  • Ensure the proper equipment is supplied at the lowest cost and highest availability through sound technical and practical evaluations.
  • Ensure all weather roads and bridges are constructed as specified in the Woodlands Annual Plan.
  • Ensure that the gravel road system is maintained through inspection and coordination of grading, snow removal, bridge repair and other activities.
  • Aid in the preparation of operational budgets.
  • Comply with corporate policies, procedures, programs and legislated regulations with respect to health, safety and the environment.
  • Ensure efficient and optimal utilization of available human and physical resources.
  • Oversee harvest and road operational planning to meet wood flow targets while remaining on budget.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: College diploma or equivalent in a related field.
  • Experience: Must have 5 + years in a similar role.
  • Bilingual: (English & French) - An asset

Salary Range

$88,529 – $122,429 annually.

Responsabilités

  • Promouvoir et garantir un lieu de travail sûr, rechercher des améliorations, soutenir le programme de santé et de sécurité.
  • Diriger une équipe d’exploitation motivée, efficace et engagée, axée sur la sécurité, la qualité des grumes et la performance opérationnelle.
  • Accompagner et encadrer les employés afin de garantir l’alignement sur les objectifs de l’unité.
  • Donner des orientations aux superviseurs des opérations, en concertation avec les clients, les consultants, les sous-traitants ou les fournisseurs.
  • Assurer la liaison entre les opérations et la planification afin d’éviter les retards opérationnels et de garantir l’efficacité.
  • Gérer un programme de communication pour tenir votre équipe informée.
  • Établir et entretenir de bonnes relations entre le personnel, les clients, les organismes externes (MNR, MTO, parties prenantes et Premières Nations), les autres utilisateurs et la direction.
  • Rendre compte au directeur général – Gestion forestière, Nord de l’Ontario Est.
  • Participer à la planification à court et moyen terme concernant les besoins budgétaires, la sélection du personnel et les projets à mener.
  • Coordonner les activités de l’exploitation forestière de Woodlands afin de respecter les objectifs de production, la qualité des produits du bois et l’approvisionnement en bois pour la scierie de Chapleau.
  • Préparer les calendriers de récolte, les rapports de production et les prévisions.
  • Être responsable des études et rapports tels que les estimations de coûts, les études de récolte, l’analyse des problèmes inhabituels, etc.
  • Veiller à ce que toutes les opérations respectent les lois et réglementations fédérales, provinciales et municipales.
  • Signaler et expliquer tout écart par rapport aux activités prévues.
  • Recommander des changements ou des améliorations au directeur général.
  • Veiller à ce que le matériel approprié soit fourni au moindre coût et avec une disponibilité maximale, grâce à des évaluations techniques et pratiques rigoureuses.
  • Veiller à ce que toutes les routes et tous les ponts praticables par tous les temps soient construits conformément aux spécifications du plan annuel de Woodlands.
  • Veiller à l’entretien du réseau routier en gravier par le biais d’inspections et de la coordination des travaux de nivellement, du déneigement, de la réparation des ponts et d’autres activités.
  • Participer à la préparation des budgets de fonctionnement.
  • Respecter les politiques, procédures et programmes de l’entreprise, ainsi que les réglementations légales en matière de santé, de sécurité et d’environnement.
  • Veiller à une utilisation efficace et optimale des ressources humaines et matérielles disponibles.
  • Superviser la planification de l’exploitation forestière et des routes afin d’atteindre les objectifs de flux de bois tout en respectant le budget.
  • Effectuer toute autre tâche connexe qui lui est confiée.

Exigences

  • Formation : Diplôme universitaire ou équivalent dans un domaine connexe.
  • Expérience : Au moins 5 ans dans un poste similaire.
  • Bilinguisme (anglais et français) : un atout.

Rémunération annuelle
