Job Title: Iron WorkerJob DescriptionThis role focuses on the safe and efficient erection of structural steel and tilt-up construction components on commercial and industrial projects throughout the Lower Mainland. You will assemble, align, and install steel structures according to detailed drawings and specifications while upholding high standards of workmanship and safety. The position requires strong technical skills, the ability to interpret complex drawings, and a commitment to working collaboratively as part of a field construction team.
Responsibilities- Perform structural steel erection on commercial and industrial construction projects, including tilt-up and free-standing structural steel.
- Assemble, align, and install steel components in accordance with project specifications, erection drawings, and structural requirements.
- Read and interpret erection drawings, shop fabrication drawings, structural drawings, blueprints, and diagrams to plan and execute work accurately.
- Carry out field welding and fabrication tasks as required, ensuring high-quality welds and adherence to applicable standards.
- Operate aerial work platforms and other access equipment safely to complete work at heights.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship in all structural ironworking activities, including fit-up, bolting, and welding.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and safety programs at all times while on site and in transit between job locations.
- Participate actively in required safety training, toolbox talks, and site safety initiatives.
- Use and maintain personal tools and basic trade equipment in good working condition.
- Collaborate closely with supervisors, coworkers, and other trades to coordinate work and meet project schedules.
- Demonstrate strong attendance, punctuality, and reliability across all assigned shifts and job sites.
- Travel to various job sites throughout the Lower Mainland and adapt to different project environments and conditions.
- Contribute to a clean and organized work area, ensuring safe access and egress for all team members.
- Identify and report hazards, near-misses, and incidents promptly to support a strong safety culture.
Essential Skills- Minimum 3 years of experience erecting tilt-up and/or free-standing structural steel on commercial or industrial projects.
- Proven ability to read and interpret structural, erection, shop fabrication drawings, and blueprints.
- Demonstrated experience with field welding and fabrication in a construction environment.
- Proficiency in working at heights and performing aerial work using appropriate equipment.
- Strong understanding of structural steel erection practices, including alignment, bolting, and bracing.
- Ownership of personal tools and basic equipment required for the ironworking trade.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle to travel to multiple project sites.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Lower Mainland for different projects.
- Current Fall Protection certification.
- Current Aerial Work Platform certification.
- Solid commitment to workplace safety, including adherence to safety policies, procedures, and site rules.
- Strong commitment to quality workmanship and attention to detail in all tasks.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers.
- Capacity to work an afternoon shift schedule from 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM, Monday through Thursday.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Welding certifications are considered a strong asset and will enhance suitability for field welding tasks.
- Experience with press brake operations is an advantage in fabrication-related work.
- Experience with TIG welding is an asset for specialized welding applications.
- Background in production or fabrication environments that involve structural steel or related metalwork.
- Journeyperson fabrication experience or certification is a desirable asset.
- Experience performing aerial work safely and efficiently on construction sites.
- Ability to adapt to different project types and site conditions across the Lower Mainland.

Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a field construction environment with work performed on various commercial and industrial sites throughout the Lower Mainland. You will primarily work an afternoon shift from 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM, Monday through Thursday, providing a consistent four-day workweek. The role involves outdoor and partially sheltered work areas, exposure to varying weather conditions, and regular work at heights using aerial work platforms and other access equipment. You will handle structural steel components, perform field welding and fabrication, and work with tools and equipment such as welding machines, presses, and lifting devices. The environment is hands-on and physically demanding, requiring safe use of personal protective equipment and adherence to all site safety requirements. On-site parking is available, and the dress code is casual, appropriate for a construction and fabrication setting, with necessary safety gear worn at all times.
