Job description
Adecco is currently hiring an Intermodal Equipment Operator for an exciting opportunity with one of Canada's leading transportation and logistics organizations. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, operating heavy equipment, and working in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
This position begins as a an on-call basis with a minimum of two hours' notice. Successful candidates must be available to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Responsibilities
  • Perform hand and horn signals to safely guide Heavy Equipment Operators.
  • Assist with loading and unloading containers, trailers, and chassis from railcars.
  • Lift, carry, place, and remove inter-box connectors (IBCs).
  • Set up railcars and ensure proper container and trailer placement.
  • Shunt inbound and outbound loads to and from railcars.
  • Load reefers and connect or disconnect gensets as required.
  • Place, remove, lock, and unlock train connectors.
  • Drive pickups, hitch trucks, yard tractors, and other equipment.
  • Operate forklifts, yard tractors, small cranes, and other material handling equipment.
  • Operate heavy equipment, including mobile cranes and reach stackers used to move containers.
  • Complete paperwork and documentation related to loading and unloading operations.
  • Perform various labour duties to support terminal operations and maintain productivity.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and operational standards.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient terminal operations.
Qualifications
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
  • This opportunity is open to individuals who self-identify as First Nations, Inuit, and/or Métis.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's licence required.
  • Lift-truck operator certification required.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing work environments.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and work at heights.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience operating forklifts and heavy equipment is considered an asset.
  • Vocational or technical training and knowledge of Rail Operating Rules are considered assets.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and technical instruments is an asset.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather and environmental conditions.
