The Bank relies on security intelligence to identify, assess, and communicate threats that may affect its people, operations, facilities, assets, reputation, or Canada's financial system.

Security intelligence supports informed decision-making by providing threat assessments, intelligence products, security briefings, travel security advice, and strategic analysis to help mitigate security risks and enhance organizational resilience.

What you will do
As a Security Threat Analyst, you will be entrusted with significant responsibility and accountability to accurately assess and analyze security information and intelligence, identify emerging threats and incidents, and support timely decision-making across the organization.

You will routinely assess the significance and potential impact of security-related information, incidents, and threats. This includes determining whether matters require immediate reporting or escalation, identifying the appropriate stakeholders to inform, and, in certain circumstances, exercising independent judgment to support timely risk mitigation.

You will:

• Conduct open-source intelligence (OSINT) research and analysis to identify emerging threats, trends, and issues of concern.
• Monitor, assess, and report on threats directed at employees, executives, facilities, events, operations, and the organization.
• Prepare operational, and tactical intelligence products, including threat assessments, and situation reports.
• Assess concerning communications, online threats, misinformation, disinformation, and other security-related issues.
• Provide travel security assessments and briefings for employees travelling domestically and internationally.
• Build and maintain partnerships with law enforcement, government, intelligence, security, and financial-sector stakeholders.
• Support incident response, investigations, and security risk mitigation activities by providing intelligence and analytical expertise.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of security intelligence tools, methodologies, products, and processes.

What you need to succeed
We are looking for an effective communicator who can interact with all levels of employees from across the Bank, including senior leaders and with external partners from the security, intelligence, and law enforcement communities. You have outstanding interpersonal, excellent writing, briefing and presentation skills. You will also have a solid understanding of confidentiality and the need-to-know principle.

You work well under pressure and meet very tight timelines while managing multiple requests. You have excellent and well-developed analytical skills and experience in drafting strategic, operational, and tactical intelligence reports and translating information into a format and text that can be easily understood by non-security professionals. You are able to articulate why the Bank needs specific types of information and how the information is used to inform decision-making.

Nice-to-have

• Previous experience / exposure working for or with security /intelligence or law enforcement agencies
• Knowledge of open-source intelligence (OSINT) methodologies and tools
• knowledge of and experience with Government of Canada security practices and threat and risk assessment methodologies.

Your education and experience
The position requires a bachelor’s degree in international relations, political science, security studies, criminology or a related field and a minimum of five years of relevant experience in the area of security threat analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional). If a qualified candidate who meets the language requirement of the position is not found, a qualified candidate who does not meet the language requirement may be considered. Training may be provided to help reach the required level. Both bilingual and unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Hybrid Work Model

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a portion of each month as part of the Bank’s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of 12 days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

• • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $94,193 to $110,816 (job grade 16)
  • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 5 to 7% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (3%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
