Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre is a state-of-the-art community hospital in rural Sioux Lookout, Ontario. Job Summary:

The Director of Patient Care Services is accountable for the organization, management and leadership of designated nursing and clinical support units. Through the use of leadership skills, management tools and an understanding of the decision-making process, the Director leads the designated care units to the achievement of departments goals and corporate objectives in keeping with the organizations mission, vision and values. The Director works collaboratively with all members of the Health Services Team to ensure high-quality patient care and optimal operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in leadership in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills required.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven critical thinking, problem solving, time management and organizational skills developed in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Current knowledge in concepts and trends in health care and best practices in change management.
  • Proven ability to implement change management strategies effectively.
  • Direct experience working with and servicing Northern remote First Nation Communities required.
  • Extensive understanding of the health care needs for the community and Northern First Nation Communities.
  • Ability to manage stress and high-pressure situations effectively in a senior-level leadership role.
  • Overall, a professional attitude and ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times while upholding SLMHC’s values of Compassion, Respect, Quality and Teamwork.

Job Duties:

  • Utilize leadership skills, management tools, and a comprehensive decision-making process to lead Patient Care teams in achieving area goals and objectives.
  • Ability to support and mentor Patient Care Managers and Clinical Managers as required.
  • Lead strategic initiatives to improve patient care outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality and continuous improvement and acts as a positive representative of SLMHC
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to build sustainable partnerships that enhance patient care and service delivery.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that align with the mission and vision of SLMHC.
  • Promotes and sustains best practice concepts and standards within the organization.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a matter consistent with the Mission, Vision and Values of the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre.
