Job description

Are you looking for a caring, collaborative, values-driven workplace with inspiring teammates and leaders? Do you have the ambition and desire to be the best and thrive at the most impactful global insurance provider in the world? Look no further than Zurich Canada.

If you have senior‑level experience in claims analytics, business intelligence, and turning complex data into clear business recommendations, we would love to hear from you.

Zurich Canada is currently looking for a Claims Analytics Specialist to work from our Toronto office and help advance data‑driven decision‑making across Claims through high‑quality analytics, reporting, and insights. You will partner with Claims leaders and business stakeholders to understand priorities, identify trends and opportunities, and translate complex data into practical recommendations. You will use modern analytics tools such as Power BI, SQL, DAX, Python, and Databricks to build scalable reporting solutions, improve insight generation, and design predictive models that help address claims‑related issues such as severity trends, leakage, cycle time, operational performance, and portfolio risk.

This is a unique opportunity for a senior analytics professional to influence how Claims uses data, strengthen decision support, and contribute to a collaborative environment where your expertise and perspective matter. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

What you will do

  • Lead the development of claims analytics, dashboards, and reporting solutions that support operational performance, portfolio insights, and strategic decision‑making.
  • Partner with Claims leaders and cross‑functional stakeholders to understand business challenges, define analytical requirements, and translate needs into scalable data solutions.
  • Design and develop predictive models and analytical approaches that help tackle claims‑related issues, including severity, frequency, leakage, cycle time, triage, reserving indicators, and operational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards, semantic models, and performance reporting using strong data modelling practices and DAX.
  • Extract, transform, validate, and analyze large claims datasets from multiple sources.
  • Apply Python and Databricks to support advanced analytics, automation, data preparation, predictive modelling, and repeatable analytical workflows.
  • Identify claims trends, anomalies, root causes, and improvement opportunities, then communicate findings through clear recommendations and business narratives.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and quality across claims reporting and analytics deliverables.
  • Act as a senior analytics partner by advising stakeholders on measures, assumptions, methodology, and interpretation of results.
  • Support continuous improvement by recommending opportunities to automate reporting, streamline processes, and strengthen analytics practices across the Claims function.
  • Contribute to team goals, mentor less experienced team members where appropriate, and help build a collaborative, high‑performing claims analytics capability.

Job Qualifications – What You Bring To The Table

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • 5 or more years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data‑driven decision support.
  • Experience developing analytics solutions using Power BI, SQL, and DAX, with the ability to design effective data models, reports, dashboards, and business performance measures.

Preferred

  • Senior‑level experience in claims analytics, insurance analytics, business intelligence, or operational performance reporting.
  • Strong Power BI development skills, including data modelling, semantic models, dashboard design, measures, and DAX.
  • Advanced data mining skills, including querying, joining, transforming, validating, and reconciling large datasets.
  • Experience designing, developing, validating, and interpreting predictive models that address claims‑related business issues.
  • Experience using Python for data analysis, automation, data preparation, predictive modelling, or advanced analytics.
  • Experience working with Databricks or similar cloud data platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, root causes, and actionable improvement opportunities.
  • Experience translating complex data into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain methodology, assumptions, and insights in business‑friendly language.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across Claims, Data, IT, Finance, Operations, and other business teams.
  • Insurance or claims domain knowledge is strongly preferred.

At Zurich Canada we are committed to pay equity. We determine compensation based on objective criteria such as skills, experience, and internal equity. The salary range for this position is $90,000 – $110,000. This range reflects the expected pay for the role across Canada and may vary depending on factors like office location, specific responsibilities, and individual qualifications. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable compensation range, but starting salaries may exceed this range based on a candidate’s skills and experience.

Hybrid work model requires three days per week of in-person presence, which may include time in the office or market‑facing engagements.
