Specialist Physician Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Key Duties

Your responsibilities will include:

Assessing, diagnosing and treating a wide range of obstetric and gynaecological conditionsProviding comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal careManaging both routine and high-risk pregnanciesOrdering and interpreting diagnostic investigations, including laboratory tests, ultrasound imaging and colposcopyDeveloping personalised treatment and follow-up plansPrescribing medications and delivering evidence-based treatmentPerforming diagnostic and therapeutic surgical procedures, where appropriately credentialedProviding specialist advice and consultations to referring healthcare professionalsEducating patients and their families regarding reproductive health and treatment optionsMaintaining accurate electronic medical recordsWorking collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare teamParticipating in continuing professional development and quality improvement initiatives
Candidate Requirements

Applicants should have:

Medical degree from a recognised medical schoolCompletion of an approved residency programme in Obstetrics & GynaecologyCertification, or eligibility for certification, by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC)Eligibility for medical registration with the relevant provincial College of Physicians and SurgeonsMembership in good standing with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or eligibility to obtain membershipAdditional fellowship or subspecialty training (such as Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility or Urogynaecology) would be advantageous but is not essentialExcellent communication skills and a patient-focused approach to careInternational applicants, including UK-trained specialists, are encouraged to enquire, subject to licensing eligibility
