About You

You are passionate about the Landscape and Horticulture industry and empowering individuals through high-quality, hands‑on learning. With strong industry knowledge and experience in training, coaching, and instruction, you bring the leadership skills needed to support a team of instructors and maintain a consistent, engaging learning experience across GROW New Entrant Program cohorts.

You are a strong communicator who knows how to build positive working relationships, set clear expectations, provide constructive feedback, and support instructors to perform at their best. You value collaboration, professional trust and respectful leadership, while maintaining accountability to program and curriculum standards.

You are also confident using technology to support online training, professional presentations, virtual meetings, communication and collaboration across a distributed team.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will provide instructional coordination and oversight for the GROW New Entrant Program, supporting a team of instructors and helping ensure consistent, engaging and high‑quality technical training across cohorts.

Working collaboratively with the GROW Program Lead and Workforce Development team, you will coordinate instructional delivery, mentor and support instructors, maintain curriculum and training standards, and contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement. You will help create an environment where instructors are well supported, accountable to program expectations and trusted to bring their professional expertise to training delivery.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Coordinate instructional delivery across GROW New Entrant Program cohorts.
  • Support the onboarding, preparation and ongoing development of part‑time instructors.
  • Set clear expectations for instructional quality, communication, professionalism and program standards.
  • Mentor and support instructors through constructive feedback while respecting their professional expertise and appropriate autonomy.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful and accountable team environment.
  • Address instructional or performance concerns appropriately, working with GROW Program and Workforce Development leadership as needed.
  • Plan and coordinate training facilities by selecting safe, accessible and cost‑effective venues that support program activities, practical learning requirements and convenient access by public transit for participants.
  • Deliver training that equips GROW participants with the knowledge, practical skills and workplace behaviours required to succeed in entry‑level roles within the landscape horticulture industry.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of approved curriculum, learning outcomes and program standards across instructors and cohorts.
  • Review instructional materials and identify gaps or opportunities for improvement.
  • Help ensure training reflects current industry practices and health and safety standards.
  • Training Equipment, Inventory & Readiness
  • Oversee the preparation, organization, storage and maintenance of training equipment, tools, materials and supplies used across GROW New Entrant Program cohorts.
  • Ensure training equipment and learning resources are available, safe and ready to support classroom, practical and field‑based instruction.
  • Conduct regular inventory reviews and maintain accurate inventory records and tracking systems.
  • Assign inventory, equipment preparation and maintenance tasks to instructors as appropriate while maintaining overall accountability for inventory accuracy, equipment readiness and storage standards.
  • Identify equipment, supply and maintenance needs, and work with the GROW Program Lead and Workforce Development team to support procurement, replacement and continuous improvement of training resources.
  • Technology‑Enabled Training and Communication:
  • Use digital tools effectively to support online cohorts, presentations, instructor communication, collaboration and program coordination.
  • Organise and support virtual meetings and training sessions, including basic troubleshooting.
  • Support instructors in effectively using required training and communication platforms.
  • Review feedback from participants, instructors and program staff to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in cohort debriefs and program planning discussions.
  • Recommend and support practical improvements to instructional quality, consistency, instructor experience and learner engagement.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in the Landscape and Horticulture industry or a closely related skilled technical field.
  • Previous experience in technical training, adult education, coaching and/or curriculum delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring or coordinating instructors, trainers or technical teams.
  • Strong ability to set clear expectations, provide constructive feedback and support instructor performance and engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships and support instructor accountability while respecting professional expertise and judgment.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation and communication skills across in‑person and online environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using digital tools for virtual training, presentations, communication and collaboration, including PowerPoint, Google Workspace and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple instructors, cohorts and priorities.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness, problem‑solving skills and ability to adapt to changing programme needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with programme staff and independently manage responsibilities.
  • Commitment to maintaining a respectful, inclusive and supportive working and learning environment.
  • Flexibility to travel to programme locations.
  • Certification or post‑secondary education in adult education, horticulture, training and development or a related field is considered an asset.

About this position

  • Part‑time, fixed‑term position through June 29, 2027, with the possibility of renewal, up to 30 hours per week based on programme and training delivery needs.
  • Compensation: $80 per hour.
  • Reports to the GROW Program Lead and works closely with Workforce Development leadership.
  • Landscape Ontario has a hybrid work model in place allowing for flexibility and fluidity in your weekly schedule.
  • Some travel to work sites and skills training locations will be required.
  • Our office is in Milton, ON at the 401 between James Snow Parkway and Trafalgar Rd.
