Job description
HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Lead Dimensional Engineer-Autonomous Vehicle Sensors (Multi-Platform) to lead dimensional engineering efforts across multiple autonomous vehicle platforms and ensure the precision required for reliable sensor integration and vehicle performance.
In this role, you’ll own dimensional management for multiple vehicle programs, partnering with engineering, manufacturing, supplier quality, and metrology teams to define dimensional strategies that support accurate sensor integration, efficient vehicle assembly, and scalable production. You'll play a critical role in establishing dimensional standards that improve manufacturability, calibration, and overall system performance.
The ideal candidate is an experienced dimensional engineering leader with deep expertise in variation analysis, metrology, and sensor integration. They excel at solving complex manufacturing challenges, influencing cross-functional teams, and driving dimensional strategies across multiple vehicle platforms.
As a Lead Dimensional Engineer-Autonomous Vehicle Sensors (Multi-Platform), you'll:- Lead dimensional engineering activities for sensor integration across multiple autonomous vehicle platforms.
- Define vehicle build and commodity-specific functional requirements that establish a robust foundation for downstream dimensional validation and analysis.
- Develop datum strategies, sensor mounting schemes, and tolerance allocations that ensure reliable sensor-to-body and sensor-to-sensor calibration.
- Review and approve internal and supplier metrology fixture designs to ensure alignment with assembly, inspection, and measurement requirements.
- Define comprehensive dimensional measurement and metrology strategies from individual components through full vehicle assembly.
- Partner with supplier quality teams to evaluate supplier capability, support PPAP activities, establish dimensional acceptance criteria, and resolve engineering issues.
- Collaborate with vehicle architecture, hardware, manufacturing, and design teams to improve product layouts, assembly processes, and dimensional robustness across vehicle programs.
- Drive continuous improvements that enhance manufacturability, dimensional quality, and sensor performance throughout the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, fixture design engineering, or a related technical field
- 8+ years of experience in dimensional management, variation simulation, metrology, or a related discipline within the automotive, aerospace, robotics, or autonomous vehicle industries
- Strong knowledge of variation simulation analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and statistical methodologies, including Cp, Cpk, standard deviation, and Gauge R&R studies
- Experience developing datum structures, tolerance strategies, and measurement plans for complex mechanical assemblies
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple complex programs in a fast-paced environment
Benefits:- Pre-tax commuter benefits
- Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
- Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
- HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
