Job Description

As Special Events & Strategic Partnerships Manager, you will be the steward of Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s most iconic traditions while driving the evolution of our signature experiences. Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, you will lead the planning, promotion, execution, and continuous enhancement of hallmark events such as Easter, Summer Camp, Celebrate, Festive, and other memorable guest experiences. This role requires a strategic leader who can balance legacy and innovation - developing exceptional events, cultivating impactful partnerships, and creating experiences that strengthen our luxury positioning, drive revenue, and deepen engagement with guests, partners, and the Whistler community.

This is a full-time, permanent position, starting as soon as possible.

Pay Range: $70,000 - $80,000 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications

Job Duties Include:

  • Own and evolve Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s signature events portfolio, ensuring programs remain relevant, profitable, and aligned with the resort’s luxury positioning

  • Develop and execute a long-term events strategy that balances tradition, innovation, community engagement, and guest expectations

  • Lead the full event lifecycle including concept development, planning, marketing, execution, post-event analysis, and reporting

  • Collaborate with Food & Beverage, Marketing, Revenue Management, and Operations teams to integrate events into the overall resort experience

  • Identify, secure, and manage strategic sponsorships and partnerships that elevate guest experiences and create mutual value

  • Build and maintain relationships with luxury brands, tourism organizations, community partners, and industry stakeholders

  • Position Fairmont Chateau Whistler as a premier destination for distinctive mountain experiences and high-profile partnerships

  • Develop event budgets, track financial performance, and ensure return on investment objectives are achieved

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators including revenue, guest satisfaction, attendance, media exposure, and brand impact

  • Represent Fairmont Chateau Whistler at community events, industry functions, and partnership meetings while acting as a brand ambassador for the resort

  • Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to the Director of Sales & Marketing and Executive Committee regarding event performance and partnership opportunities

  • Ensure sponsorship commitments and deliverables are executed to the highest standard and provide measurable value to partners

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in senior event management, experiential marketing, hospitality, tourism, or a related field

  • Proven success leading high-profile events and developing strategic partnerships or sponsorship programs

  • Experience working within luxury hospitality, destination marketing, tourism, or premium consumer brands preferred

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting results, and measuring ROI

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute marketing initiatives that drive event awareness and attendance

  • Exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across departments

  • Degree or diploma in Event Management, Marketing, Business, Hospitality, or a related discipline preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Job Perks & Benefits:

  • Subsidized staff accommodation provided

  • Access to our Employee Travel Program, with discounts on room rates and food & beverage at Fairmont & Accor properties worldwide

  • Hotel leisure benefits including Golf/Ski passes

  • Complimentary meal in our staff cafeteria per shift
