Physical Requirements
This position is primarily sedentary and requires the ability to perform administrative and technical work in an office environment. The employee must be able to:
- Sit for extended periods while performing computer-based work, reviewing documents, and responding to employee inquiries.
- Operate a computer, keyboard, telephone, calculator, and other standard office equipment with sufficient dexterity and coordination.
- Frequently use hand and wrist motions associated with keyboarding, data entry, navigating computer systems, and preparing written communications.
- Read and interpret information displayed on computer monitors, reports, forms and other written materials.
- Maintain visual focus and attention while working with detailed payroll records, spreadsheets, system screens, and digital documents.
- Occasionally move throughout an office or district work environment to attend meetings, training sessions and collaborate with staff.
- Occasionally lift, carry or move materials, files or equipment weighing up to approximately 10 pounds.
Mental Requirements
The employee must be able to:
- Sustain concentration and accuracy while performing detailed, repetitive, and deadline-driving payroll activities.
- Exercise sound judgement when determining appropriate next steps, prioritizing workload, and responding to time-sensitive payroll matters.
- Manage interruptions and competing demands while maintaining productivity and service expectations during payroll cycles.
- Follow established procedures while recognizing when situations required additional review, escalation, or clarification.
- Adapt to changes in payroll schedules, procedures, technology systems, and operational priorities.
- Remain composed and professional when addressing sensitive employee concerns, disputes, or high-impact payroll issues.
- Apply discretion and maintain appropriate boundaries when handling confidential employee and compensation information.
Working conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office environment with frequent use of computers, electronic communication systems, and business software applications. Work involves regular interaction with employees, supervisors, administrators, and school or department staff regarding payroll questions, transactions and system support.
Work requires adherence to strict payroll processing timelines and may involve periods of increased workload during payroll deadlines, system changes, audits or regulatory updates. Work may require occasional participation in meetings, training sessions, orientations, and professional development activities outside of the immediate work area.
Work may involve exposure to confidential employee information requiring compliance with privacy expectations and secure handling practices. Work is generally performed during standard business hours; peridoically schedule adjustments may be required to support payroll processing deadlines, system implementations, or urgent operational needs.
