Network Field Technician

Responsibilities
Travel to various corporate locations primarily within driving distance of Montreal, occasionally traveling as far as Quebec City.
Assist in the execution of the IT Security Network Segregation project by configuring and deploying local network hardware (switches, routers, and wireless access points).
Audit existing local site network setups to map out segregation prerequisites and identify potential hardware gaps.
Collaborate with the central IT Security and Network Architecture teams to ensure all field deployments comply with corporate security blueprints.
Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity or configuration anomalies during the on-site migration and segregation phases.
Provide clear, concise status updates and deployment logs back to the project management office upon site completion.


Qualifications
Must-Have Requirements
Core Technical Competency: Solid foundational knowledge of networking infrastructure, including hands-on experience setting up, swapping, or configuring switches, routers, and access points.
Vehicle & License: Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle (this is an absolute, non-negotiable requirement for the role).
Travel Flexibility: Highly willing and able to be almost exclusively on the road traveling to regional sites.
Autonomy: Proven ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision while operating out in the field.
Preferred Assets (Nice to Have)
Active enrollment in or completion of recognized professional Networking or IT Security designations (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or equivalent).
Previous experience supporting field deployment, site rollouts, or IT infrastructure migration projects.
Bilingualism (French and English) to easily communicate with local site staff across the Montreal and Quebec City corridors.


Summary
Our client is seeking a hands-on, mobile IT Consultant to support a critical IT Security Network Segregation project. This is a 3-month contract opportunity with a strong possibility of being extended on a month-to-month basis. Based out of Montreal, this position features a hybrid/field-heavy operational model where you will spend the vast majority of your time on the road, implementing network security upgrades across various regional sites.

Our Client operates across Canada, and globally/internationally in the United States and other countries. This company takes all reasonable means to limit the number of positions in Quebec that require knowledge of a language other than French, and only requires this where it is necessary and its existing bilingual employees are unable to fulfil these job duties.

Based on an assessment conducted by our client, it has been determined that this position requires candidates to be fluent in English (oral and written). In particular, this position will require the employee to:

Work on client projects, products or deliverables that are required to be delivered to clients in English.

Communicate with English-speaking clients/partners/employees located outside Quebec on a fegular basis.
