We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join a team developing innovative cloud-based software solutions that support cutting-edge scientific and healthcare technologies. In this role, you will design and build scalable backend services, contribute to modern cloud architectures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-quality software products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend APIs and software features.
• Architect and implement cloud-native solutions using modern distributed systems and serverless technologies.
• Build and enhance microservices-based applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following software engineering best practices.
• Create and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) to improve software design, implementation, and productivity.
• Research and evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and development practices to continuously improve engineering processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Contribute to software architecture discussions and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Proven experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Experience building and maintaining microservices-based architectures.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to evolving technical challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing cloud-native applications using AWS.
• Frontend development experience and the ability to contribute to full-stack initiatives.
• Background in life sciences, bioinformatics, healthcare, or medical devices.
• Experience developing software in regulated environments with design control processes.

Expected Compensation Range:
90K. The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience, skills, and qualifications, in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements.

Canadian Experience Requirement:
No Canadian work experience is required for this position. Candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of previous Canadian experience.
