Job Details
The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Engineering department as an Engineering Development Supervisor. Reporting to the Manager, Development Engineering, this position will be responsible for overseeing the technical review and coordination of development projects, including drawing reviews, development agreements, permit conditions, site inspections, and construction completion processes. The role also manages maintenance period activities, final acceptance certificates, and letters of credit, while providing technical analysis and project insights to support resource planning, policy development, and strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and implement the day-to-day management of land development and site development projects including adherence to all relevant provincial regulations, City Bylaws, Municipal Engineering Standards, and others.
- Perform the technical analysis needed to support the Manager. Development Engineering in terms of long-term planning, policies and procedures as per the most current practices and legislated requirements.
- Review engineering drawings to ensure technical compliance with current Municipal Engineering Standards.
- Supervise, mentor and provide guidance to designated personnel, recognize training needs and make provisions for staff development.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience or 2-Year Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related discipline, with a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience is required.
- Experience in civil design and land development project management is required.
- A strong understanding of Municipal Engineering Standards, policies, bylaws, the MGA, development processes and safety legislation is also required.
- Registration with APEGA or ASET is required.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
Hours of Work
- Benefit from flexible work hours by adjusting your start and end times by 30 or 60 minutes around our core hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO).
Compensation
- The salary ranges from $106,474.16 - $129,599.60 per year, including a comprehensive benefits package with a flexible spending account, pension plan, and accrued paid vacation starting at 3 weeks per year.

- Candidates not meeting the full qualifications may be considered for a development opportunity at a lower classification and salary.
