Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and basic physical; have the ability to work full-time, 40+ hours per week. The hours for this position are 12:00pm - 8:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety-sensitive.

Summary:

Based in Vernon, California the Heat Treater C will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Production Supervisor to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed.

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Heat Treating Technician. Depending on your skills and experience, this role may be filled at one of the following levels:

Level C: Entry Level: 0 to 24 months of heat treating experience. You will be expected to learn and grow in your role, with guidance from senior team members.

 Assists with operations, control, and monitoring of heat treating and related equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

 Prepares work for processing; loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.

 Brings any unusual problems or irregularities to the attention of the supervisor.

 Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.

 Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.

 This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and, as such, will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.

 Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.

 This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.

 Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

 Must have working knowledge of metallurgy, temperatures, etc.

 May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.

 Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.

 Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Physical & Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of, but are not limited to the following.

 Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time in an industrial environment.

 Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions

 Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

 May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.

 Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions

 Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing

 Visual acuity to read documents, computer

Pay & Benefits Information

The hourly pay range for this position is $18.21 - $23.25 per hour. Starting pay is determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with state and federal law.

This role is eligible for additional compensation, including shift differential, etc., if applicable.
