Qualifications and Experience

: High School Diploma Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting Bachelor of Education (Elementary, Middle or Secondary) degree, or equivalent training would be an asset A valid Teacher Regulation Branch Certificate, or in progress would be an assetDesired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability: Ability to understand and effectively carry out general oral and written instructions with a minimum of supervision Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of information Ability to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within limits of established methods and procedures Ability to use a variety of teaching and learning strategies to accommodate the learning needs of all students Ability to develop a positive learning environment in the classroom and evidence of strong organization and classroom management skills Knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations students as well as a culturally diverse student population Successful experience integrating local Indigenous culture and traditions into curriculum, or familiarity with and understanding of local Indigenous culture and commitment to integrate it into the curriculumAdditional InformationConditions of Employment: Have and maintain RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check.For your application to be considered, all relevant documents listed below must be submitted after your application to for review: 2 to 3 recent and relevant references (these will need to be added to your application) Transcripts from your program A copy of the credential received after completing your program A copy of your teaching certificate Please do not include a copy of your RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check with your Apply to Education application.
