Qualifications

  • A university degree, college diploma or equivalent experience in journalism
  • Ability to write clearly and engagingly in breaking news, features and short-form journalism
  • Rigorous fact-checking, editing, and proofreading skills
  • A keen interest in the role of community journalism in a functioning democracy
  • Experience working in a real-time, digital newsroom, and the ability to use social media as both a news-gathering tool and to boost the profile of The Gazette
  • Experience in photography and videography an asset; experience with WordPress and Adobe Photoshop and InDesign key assets.
The ideal candidate is committed to the values of journalism and community news, experienced in print, digital and social media publication, and able to work flexible, full-time hours with some evening and weekend commitments. This is an in-person position. Residency in or near Prince Edward County is required.
