Job Title: General Laborer
Job Description
This role involves working with metal and other components to polish, grind, hand file, sand, bend, assemble, wash, pack, and unpack parts using both manual and power tools. You will support production by performing a variety of hands-on tasks, ensuring parts meet quality standards through careful visual inspection, and contributing to a safe, clean, and organized workspace.
Responsibilities
- Polish, grind, hand file, and sand parts using manual and machine tools to achieve required finishes and dimensions.
- Assemble components accurately according to instructions and specifications.
- Bend tubes and finish parts using appropriate manual and power tools.
- Wash, pack, and unpack parts carefully to prevent damage and maintain product quality.
- Perform visual inspection of products to verify quality, identify defects, and ensure compliance with standards.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively while completing daily tasks.
- Follow written and verbal instructions to complete work in the correct sequence and to the required standard.
- Maintain housekeeping standards by keeping the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Promote a safe and healthy working environment by following safe working practices and reporting any concerns.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and overall operations.
Essential Skills
- Experience performing general labor tasks in a production or workshop environment.
- Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality finishes and accurate assembly.
- Manual dexterity to handle small parts and perform precise finishing work.
- Good eye-hand coordination for polishing, grinding, filing, sanding, and bending tasks.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Comfort working in a machine shop or similar environment, with a focus on safety and quality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a machine shop environment is an asset.
- Aerospace or job shop experience is considered a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with visual inspection techniques for finished parts.
- Ability to adapt to new equipment and processes, including working with modern machinery.
Work Environment
The role is based in a production and machine shop environment that uses both manual and powered equipment for polishing, grinding, filing, sanding, bending, and assembly work. You will work with new machines and tools, contributing to a modern and well-maintained facility. The schedule runs Monday to Thursday from 8:00 . to 4:30 . and Friday from 8:00 . to 4:00 ., providing regular daytime hours. The workspace emphasizes cleanliness and organization, with housekeeping standards and safe working practices forming an important part of daily operations. Appropriate work attire suitable for a machine shop environment is expected, including clothing and footwear that support safety and comfort while performing hands-on tasks.
