Job description

Role Summary

The National Quality Specialist is a project-facing quality resource that works with regional teams to help project teams identify, plan, and execute contractual quality requirements. Reporting to the National Quality and Compliance Operations Manager, the role supports Project Quality Plans, translates contract and specification obligations into practical controls, reviews documentation for completeness, and performs light audits to confirm effective implementation. This national support helps improve consistency across regions, reduce rework, strengthen accountability, and reinforce ISO 9001-aligned practices, including documented information control, corrective action, risk-based thinking, and continual improvement.

Why This Role Matters to Modern Niagara

The National Quality Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring consistent, high-quality project execution across Modern Niagara's national operations. By translating complex contractual, regulatory, and quality requirements into practical project controls, this position helps teams proactively manage quality risks, maintain compliance, and deliver projects that meet client expectations. The role also strengthens Modern Niagara's ISO 9001 quality management framework by promoting standardization, accountability, documentation discipline, and continuous improvement across all regions.

Key Impact / Purpose

  • Improve Project Quality and Reduce Rework
  • Drive Consistency and Compliance Across Regions
  • Strengthen Client Confidence and Operational Excellence

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review contracts, specifications, drawings, scopes of work, schedules, submittals, and related documents to identify quality obligations, inspection and testing requirements, documentation deliverables, and turnover expectations.
  • Develop, maintain, and support Project Quality Plans aligned with contractual commitments, project scope, internal standards, applicable codes, regulatory expectations, and ISO 9001-based quality management principles.
  • Translate requirements into practical tools such as requirement matrices, checklists, registers, inspection planning tools, implementation trackers, and turnover readiness tools.
  • Support project teams in understanding and implementing quality requirements for mechanical scopes, including installation, inspection, testing, commissioning support, turnover, closeout, and records management.
  • Coordinate with regional quality teams, project managers, operations leaders, field teams, quality representatives, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to integrate quality requirements early in project planning and execution.
  • Conduct light audits, readiness assessments, or structured reviews of Project Quality Plans and related documentation to confirm completeness, alignment, and implementation.
  • Track quality plan gaps, findings, action items, and improvement opportunities through to timely closeout and evidence-based resolution.
  • Support national standardization of project quality templates, tools, checklists, registers, and guidance documents in collaboration with regional quality teams.
  • Apply ISO 9001 certification-process knowledge to support gap assessments, audit preparation, evidence gathering, corrective action tracking, management review inputs, and ongoing certification readiness.
  • Use project platforms and digital tools to support document control, communication, quality execution, and records traceability; Procore experience is considered an asset.

Must-haves:

  • Post-secondary education in construction, engineering, quality, compliance, project management, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 3 to 5 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, construction project support, compliance, documentation control, or project quality planning.
  • Experience developing or reviewing Project Quality Plans, inspection documentation, checklists, registers, requirement matrices, or quality implementation tools.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and experience supporting certification activities, internal audits, gap assessments, corrective actions, or QMS implementation.
  • Ability to interpret contracts, specifications, drawings, procedures, standards, inspection requirements, and contractual quality obligations.
  • Strong organization, documentation discipline, attention to detail, communication skills, and follow-through.
  • Mechanical construction quality experience and Procore or similar document control platform experience are considered assets.

This is a new position. The salary range is between $75,000 - $90,000
