Our Firm has an opening for a Manager, Individual US Tax to join our team. The Position Details are as follows:
- Status: Contract; 12 month contract preferred but open to candidate preference
- Office Location: Burlington; remote and hybrid work arrangements are also available
- Salary Range: $113,500 – $148,500
- Reason for Hire: Parental Leave Coverage
Reporting to Partners, Principals and Senior Managers, you will be responsible for:
- Focusing on U.S. personal tax, including reviewing tax returns prepared by staff and providing clear, constructive feedback to support their growth and ensure accuracy
- Providing both technical and project management support on U.S. Personal Tax projects
- Researching, interpreting tax legislation, formulating solutions, and providing recommendations
- Proactively identifying and communicating significant findings or issues to the senior team, offering well-reasoned recommendations and collaborating with stakeholders as needed
- Delivering planning and advisory services related to cross-border tax structures and compliance requirements
- Managing a portfolio of US tax clients, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with all filing and reporting deadlines
- Preparing client correspondence, including reports, discussion of technical issues and recommendations
- Acting in the capacity of a coach to specific US tax staff, providing support and development
- Assistance to other offices of the Firm as required
- Additional responsibilities as required to support Firm objectives
The ideal candidate will have:
- Graduate of a University Accounting Program, or equivalent
- US Certified Public Accountant and/or Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation and/or IRS Enrolled Agent Designation
- Experience in an oversight role
- Minimum of four (4) years post-qualification US tax experience in a public accounting practice
- Strong knowledge of US and Canadian tax legislation, including personal tax regulations
- Thorough understanding of the Internal Revenue Code
- Knowledge of CCH Axcess Tax, CaseWare, CaseView, Taxprep and Microsoft Office programs, an asset
