The ideal candidate will have experience in redlining and negotiating legal documents in both English and French, and the ability to effectively manage their workload and adapt in a fast-paced, growth-oriented company.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, redline, and negotiate commercial contracts, customer terms and conditions, proposals, subcontracts, equipment leases, rental agreements, and related legal documents, including both Illumina and customer-provided templates.
  • Evaluate draft contracts against approved legal and business guidelines to identify and mitigate legal, commercial, compliance, privacy, and operational risks; flag incomplete or non-compliant terms and drive open items to resolution.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Sales, Customer Care, Finance, Accounts Receivable, Revenue Recognition, Marketing, and other internal stakeholders to ensure contract processes support business needs, company policies, and applicable legal requirements.
  • Provide lead support to Sales Representatives and internal stakeholders on contract workflow questions, bid proposals, customer documentation requests, and issue resolution throughout the sales contracting process.
  • Compare new agreements to existing agreements for consistency and accuracy, maintain current contract terms, pricing approval processes, forms, and related resources, and ensure documentation is properly stored for team reference.

  • Assist with the selection, design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of software systems and legal tools used to process contract requests, manage compliance and privacy reporting, and support Legal department operations.
  • Represent the Commercial Legal team on company-wide projects affecting the sales contracting process, organize and document stakeholder meetings, and support continuous process improvements.
  • Where appropriate, mentor Contract Analysts and provide guidance on department processes, procedures, contract review standards, and stakeholder communications.
  • Ability to effectively and authoritatively support sales territories in both the U.S. and Canada as requested.

  • Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing a variety of commercial contracts and legal documents with limited supervision, including solicitations/bids/tenders for Canadian government entities.
  • Strong understanding of the contract lifecycle, including contract evaluation, negotiation, approval, tracking, reporting, and close-out.
  • Ability to quickly understand business objectives, manage multiple contract matters simultaneously, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with changing priorities.
  • Strong analytical, drafting, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • A strong service orientation, positive can-do attitude, and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and a broad range of personalities and cultures.
  • Ability to mentor others, provide process guidance, and serve as a Contracts subject matter resource to internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and contract management, reporting, and legal operations tools, including applicable AI experience (Copilot or other).
