Mechanical Supervisor

The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for optimizing productivity at the client’s site while ensuring safety, customer satisfaction, compliance with Boccard Management System standards, and continuous improvement of site operations. The incumbent provides field leadership for the installation, startup, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems, process piping, and related equipment.

Working closely with clients, subcontractors, engineering teams, and commissioning personnel, the Mechanical Supervisor ensures that projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, quality requirements, and applicable codes and standards.

Position Functions

• Supervise and coordinate the installation process equipment and process piping at customer sites.
• Ensure work is executed in accordance with engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, cGMP requirements, and applicable codes.
• Monitor field activities and optimize productivity, quality, and schedule adherence.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and site personnel.
• Identify and resolve technical and operational issues encountered during installation and startup.
• Review field progress and provide regular updates to project management.
• Serve as a primary point of contact on site for mechanical installation activities.
• Participate in regular meetings with clients, subcontractors, project managers, engineering teams, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain positive customer relationships and provide prompt responses to technical or operational concerns.
• Coordinate interfaces between mechanical, process, electrical, automation, and validation teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Support change management and field modifications as required.
• Promote and enforce company health and safety policies and site‑specific safety requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Quebec occupational health and safety regulations and customer safety standards.
• Conduct safety observations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
• Ensure all work complies with company procedures, quality requirements, and applicable government regulations.
• Identify opportunities to improve installation practices, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
• Participate in lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the development and implementation of best practices for field operations.

Education

DVS, AVS, DCS or ACS in Welding and Assembly; Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.

Experience

Minimum of seven (7) – ten (10) years of experience in industrial construction, mechanical installation, or process piping projects. Previous experience supervising mechanical trades and subcontractors in manufacturing, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or process industries.

Skills & Abilities

• Competency in MS suite and other data entry software
• Experience with startup and commissioning activities is preferred.
• Familiarity with qualification and validation activities in regulated environments is considered an asset.
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical systems, sanitary process piping, and process equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, piping layouts, and construction drawings.
• Knowledge of cGMP requirements and industrial codes and standards.
• Familiarity with commissioning, qualification, and validation processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Customer‑focused mindset with a commitment to quality and safety.
• Strong organizational and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

• Bilingual French and English required.

This position requires proficiency in both French and English, as the nature of the duties involves regular communication with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors across Canada and the United States. The requirement for English is essential to perform these responsibilities effectively.
