Programmer Analyst

Discovery is a growing North America precious metals company committed to high-quality gold and silver production while meeting the highest environmental standards.

Reporting to the IT Manager, the Programmer Analyst supports and grows one or more business/production applications. The role identifies gaps between current capabilities and user requirements, designs and implements solutions, and delivers valuable information to key decision makers throughout the division.

Key Responsibilities

• Process customer service requests from receipt through investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution, including root‑cause analysis to uncover underlying problems.
• Discover and analyze business needs by interviewing customers, interpreting findings, and documenting requirements to ensure they are clearly captured, expressed, and internalized.
• Execute project leadership duties throughout the project life cycle—definition, planning, scheduling, costing, initiation, execution, closure, and post‑project review—to deliver benefits on time and on budget.
• Design and document specifications for proposed solutions, including applications, system integrations/interfaces, and associated data structures.
• Develop application components (processes, programs, scripts, screens, reports, etc.) from design specifications to produce high‑quality, defect‑free solutions.
• Coordinate activities of individuals contributing to solutions on a temporary or project basis to leverage team expertise.
• Communicate and disseminate information through written status reports and group presentations, informing stakeholders of issues and opportunities in a clear, customer‑friendly manner.
• Compile and analyze data, gathering statistics, and identifying trends to assist application owners with strategy preparation and business case development.

Skills and Qualifications

• College/University degree in information sciences or equivalent with 3–5 years of related experience.
• Strong project management and time‑management skills.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a large, diverse customer community.
• Working knowledge of relational database technologies and associated development tools.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual compensation of CAD$90,000 to CAD$114,000.
