Job Description

This role focuses on fitting and metal fabrication of a wide range of metal structures, combining hands-on fabrication work with MIG and TIG welding and pipefitting. You will use various fabrication methods and tools to assemble, install, and modify metal components and systems in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform fitting and metal fabrication for various types of metal structures using appropriate tools, equipment, and methods.
• Carry out MIG and TIG welding on different metals, ensuring strong, clean, and compliant welds.
• Complete pipefitting tasks, including measuring, cutting, fitting, and installing piping systems according to specifications.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to plan and execute fabrication and installation work.
• Install electrical conduit and related components as required for projects, ensuring proper routing and secure mounting.
• Assist with wiring and installation activities related to fabricated structures and systems, following applicable standards.
• Use mechanical aptitude to diagnose and resolve basic fabrication and fitting issues during assembly and installation.
• Apply various metal fabrication techniques such as cutting, grinding, forming, and assembling to produce finished components.
• Maintain a safe and organized work area, following all safety procedures, including working at heights and operating lifts when required.
• Provide and properly maintain designated personal tools needed to perform daily fabrication and fitting tasks.

Essential Skills

• 5–10 years of experience in fitting and metal fabrication roles.
• Demonstrated experience with MIG welding in an industrial or fabrication environment.
• Demonstrated experience with TIG welding in an industrial or fabrication environment.
• Proficiency in pipefitting, including measuring, cutting, and installing piping systems.
• Ability to perform metal fabrication using various methods such as cutting, grinding, and forming.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to work with tools, equipment, and machinery safely and effectively.
• Experience with electrical conduit installation and related wiring tasks.
• Valid Metal Fabricator trade certification is considered an asset.
• TSSA certifications are considered an asset.
• CWB certifications are considered an asset.
• Working at heights training or certification.
• Forklift certification or demonstrated ability to operate a forklift safely.
• Scissor lift certification or demonstrated ability to operate a scissor lift safely.
• Ability and willingness to provide and use some personal tools required for the job.

• Attention to detail and ability to produce precise, high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively with a team.
• Good problem-solving skills for addressing fabrication and installation challenges on site.

• Comfort working in industrial environments and at varying heights.

Work Environment

This role is based in an industrial setting with a day shift schedule and flexible start and end times, ideally around 7:00 . to 3:30 . The commute to and from the work site is paid as regular hours, although commute time does not count toward overtime calculations. Overtime is available after 8 hours worked in a day. Work involves hands-on metal fabrication, welding, pipefitting, and installation tasks, often using equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts and occasionally working at heights. The environment is active and tool-driven, and you will be expected to provide some of your own tools. The role may require travel, with hotel accommodations and a daily per diem provided when necessary. Dress is typical for industrial fabrication work, with appropriate safety gear and personal protective equipment required.
