Job description
Adecco is currently hiring a full-time skilled and safety-focused Diesel Engine Mechanic (HDM) to perform inspections, servicing, repairs, and overhauls on a variety of locomotives. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined professional with diesel experience who is committed to quality, safety, and continuous learning in a regulated industrial environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform major and minor repairs, overhauls, and servicing on all types of locomotives
  • Inspect, service, and maintain locomotives in accordance with federal regulations and company standards
  • Diagnose diesel engine malfunctions and complete required repairs
  • Assemble and start engines following maintenance or overhaul activities
  • Operate and safely use tools and equipment including:
  • Electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment
  • Lubrication systems
  • Mechanical and diagnostic tools
  • Prepare inspection, maintenance, and work reports using prescribed forms and procedures
  • Operate locomotives on shop tracks and conduct post-repair testing
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational excellence
Qualifications and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
  • Diesel mechanic experience and/or completion of a Diesel Mechanic diploma
  • Valid driver's license
  • Basic technical knowledge of diesel mechanics
  • Ability to use measuring devices and understand visual displays
  • Good hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and meeting performance standards
  • Valid commercial driver's license for the class and type of equipment operated
  • Ability to certify company equipment in accordance with provincial standards
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and electronic systems
  • Welding skills
  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
