Job description

Are you passionate about advancing patient outcomes while driving launch success?

GSK remains committed to achieving bold commercial ambitions for the future. By 2031, we aim to deliver £40 billion in annual sales, leveraging our existing strong performance momentum to significantly increase our positive impact on the health of billions of patients globally. Our Ahead Together strategy is centred on early intervention to prevent and alter the course of disease, thereby protecting people and supporting healthcare systems.

Our diverse portfolio consists of vaccines, specialty medicines, and general medicines.

Through continuous innovation and a dedicated focus on scientific and technical excellence, we strive to develop and launch new, groundbreaking treatments that address critical health challenges.

Job Purpose
GSK is looking to hire a Therapeutic Specialist, Hepatology to join our Specialty Care & Innovation Business Unit. This is a field-based role covering BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, and reports directly to the Hepatology National Sales Manager. The ideal candidate must reside within the responsible territory to ensure effective local engagement and coverage.

As a Therapeutic Specialist, Hepatology, you will be responsible for executing strategic business plans that drive customer engagement and maximize the value of GSK’s Hepatology portfolio. You will lead business development initiatives, foster meaningful customer relationships, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure the successful implementation of marketing strategies. Your ability to demonstrate business acumen, communicate effectively, and work autonomously will be critical to success. You will work closely with cross-functional partners — including Medical Science Liaisons, Medical Education Managers, System Solutions Manager and the Marketing team, and other internal stakeholders — to support GSK’s mission.

Details (Your Responsibilities)

  • Developing and implementing strategic business plans tailored to your territory, setting and achieving both short- and long-term goals

  • Building strong, trust-based relationships with healthcare professionals, hospital and clinic decision-makers, and allied healthcare stakeholders to optimize patient outcomes

  • Designing and driving unique, customer-focused initiatives to build GSK advocacy, accelerate launch uptake and future portfolio growth

  • Engaging in meaningful scientific discussions with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal use of Hepatology medicine(s)

  • Collaborating with cross-functional colleagues to develop and execute programs that improve patient care and align with brand strategies

  • Navigating challenges within your territory effectively and leveraging business acumen to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities

  • Preparing and managing territory budgets with accountability for resource allocation

  • Conducting impactful daily customer calls to drive measurable contributions to patient access and market growth

  • Executing field programs such as Lunch & Learns, scientific engagements, and other educational initiatives

  • Ensuring all activities align with internal compliance and regulatory standards while consistently acting with integrity

  • Managing complex multi-stakeholder Hepatology environments, balancing immediate patient needs with long-term growth objectives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, marketing, or related field

  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience in Hepatology or proven success launching products in competitive markets

  • Strong working knowledge of scientific research study interpretation and functional data analysis techniques

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong relationship-building skills with healthcare professionals, physicians, and hospital stakeholders

  • Proven ability to build and maintain a network of healthcare stakeholders and access to physician networks

  • Demonstrated leadership and team collaboration skills with exposure to cross-functional teams (medical, marketing, government affairs)

  • Self-starter with ability to work autonomously and drive business growth

  • Results-oriented with ability to proactively identify opportunities and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes

  • High learning agility and adaptability in fast-paced, evolving environments

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within a large geography while optimizing travel efficiency (minimizing windshield time)

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required for company vehicle eligibility)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced scientific degree or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of the healthcare landscape, including local market dynamics and provider networks within the territory

  • Experience working with Hepatology centers

***This position requires the employee to drive routinely on company business and allows for the provision of a company-leased vehicle. However, to be eligible for this position and a company vehicle, GSK will need to obtain acceptable results from a license verification inquiry and drivers abstract review against its safe driver program requirements***
