This leadership role is responsible for overseeing accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across a large, multi-location workforce while partnering closely with Human Resources, Finance, Benefits, and Information Technology teams.

As our Payroll Supervisor and payroll subject matter expert, you will provide leadership to the payroll team, support payroll system enhancements including Workday, and help strengthen payroll compliance, payroll accounting, reporting, reconciliations, and year-end processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Payroll Supervisor, Payroll Manager, Senior Payroll Specialist, Payroll Team Lead, or payroll professional with strong Canadian payroll experience who is ready to take on a visible leadership role within a stable, growing, and employee-focused organization.

Why Payroll Professionals Choose London Drugs

  • Work for a stable, well-established Canadian retailer with a strong reputation.
  • Lead payroll operations for a large, complex, multi-location workforce.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Benefits, Operations, and IT on important payroll initiatives.
  • Be involved in payroll modernization, process improvement, system enhancement, and Workday-related work.
  • Join a collaborative team that values accuracy, accountability, service, and continuous improvement.
  • Build your career with a company known for promoting from within and investing in its people.
What You'll Do

As Payroll Supervisor, you will oversee payroll operations while providing leadership and technical expertise to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across London Drugs and its subsidiary companies.

  • Lead the end-to-end processing of two bi-weekly payroll cycles.
  • Review and approve payroll transactions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and service excellence.
  • Oversee EFT file transmission and related payroll funding activities.
  • Monitor and implement payroll changes resulting from legislative updates, regulatory requirements, and company policy changes.
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and support payroll accounting accuracy.
  • Oversee CRA source deduction reconciliations and annual T4 balancing and reporting.
  • Review and approve payroll journal entries and third-party remittances.
  • Provide guidance and support to Payroll Administrators on complex payroll matters.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop payroll team members.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, Benefits, Operations, and IT on payroll projects and process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll controls, efficiency, accuracy, reporting, and employee experience.
  • Support management with payroll reporting, forecasting, and budget-related activities.
What Makes You Successful

You are a payroll leader who combines technical payroll expertise with sound judgment, strong communication skills, and a service-first mindset. You are trusted with confidential information, remain calm under pressure, and can effectively balance competing payroll deadlines and business priorities.

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to payroll accuracy.
  • Sound judgment and strong problem-solving ability.
  • Analytical thinking with the ability to identify payroll trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic, high-volume Canadian payroll environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset and commitment to exceptional internal service.
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Qualifications

  • Progressive Canadian payroll experience, including payroll leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience working in large, complex, high-volume payroll environments.
  • Experience supporting payroll operations across multiple locations is preferred.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as Workday, PeopleSoft, Kronos, ADP, Ceridian Dayforce, or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, payroll accounting, taxation, compliance, benefits, pensions, and year-end processing.
  • PCP designation required.
  • CPM designation considered an asset.
  • Strong proficiency with payroll reporting, reconciliation, auditing, and issue resolution.
