About the Role
Working within the Cougars Athletics and Recreation department, these are flexible positions whose work schedule is variable and may include an irregular schedule of not less than three (3) hours per shift and up to thirty-five (35) hours per week. These positions will end March 31, 2027.
The Announcer is the in-venue voice of MRU Cougars games for either basketball, hockey, soccer or volleyball. This high-energy role is responsible for creating an engaging and exciting atmosphere for fans by delivering clear, enthusiastic live announcements and playing music throughout the game. The announcer introduces starting lineups, announces goals or points, and all other key stats depending on the sport as well as provides important event information such as sponsor messages, intermission promotions, and safety protocols.
The ideal candidate is confident on a microphone, has a dynamic speaking voice, can read the flow of a game, and knows how to hype up a crowd while remaining professional and accurate. A strong understanding of basketball, hockey, soccer or volleyball is a major asset.
