Job Summary

Provide high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations to support clinical diagnosis and patient care. Maintain accurate imaging records ensure patient comfort and safety and communicate findings to the healthcare team.

Main Duties

• Perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations (e.g. abdominal obstetric vascular musculoskeletal) using appropriate protocols and techniques.
• Prepare patients for procedures obtain relevant medical history explain the examination and address patient concerns to ensure comfort and safety.
• Operate adjust and maintain ultrasound equipment and transducers selecting appropriate settings to optimize image quality.
• Capture review and document diagnostic images and measurements ensuring images meet clinical standards and are properly stored in patient records.
• Collaborate with physicians radiologists and other healthcare professionals to communicate urgent findings and support diagnostic decision-making.
• Adhere to infection control radiation safety and quality assurance procedures; maintain equipment inventory and report maintenance needs.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or equivalent post-secondary training in medical ultrasound.
• Certification from or eligibility for certification with a recognized sonography professional association or provincial regulatory body where applicable.
• Clinical experience performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of human anatomy ultrasound physics scanning protocols and image optimization techniques.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including prolonged standing patient positioning and assisting with patient transfers as needed.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
