Property Accounting Manager
North Vancouver, BC
Salary: $110,000 to $125,000, depending on experience

Burke Recruiting is working on a search for a Property Accounting Manager with a well-established property management company based in North Vancouver.

This is a hands-on role for someone who understands property accounting and enjoys being the person who keeps reporting, deadlines, reconciliations, budgets, and team workflow moving in the right direction.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Property Accounting Manager, or a strong Senior Property Accountant who is ready to take the next step into a more formal leadership role.

The Opportunity

Our client manages a portfolio of commercial and residential properties and is looking for someone who can bring structure, consistency, and strong follow-through to the property accounting function.

This person will work closely with the Director of Finance, property managers, and accounting staff to ensure monthly reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, compliance items, and key deadlines are completed accurately and on time.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable mentoring others while still being close to the details.

Key Responsibilities

* Oversee property accounting for a portfolio of commercial and residential properties
* Review monthly and annual financial statements
* Keep month-end and year-end reporting timelines on track
* Review CAM reconciliations, operating cost recoveries, and property tax reconciliations
* Monitor rent rolls, tenant billing, AR, collections, AP, and expense allocations
* Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
* Work closely with property managers to resolve questions and ensure reporting accuracy
* Help establish clear accounting workflows, priorities, and deadlines
* Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship to property accountants and accounting support staff
* Support audit preparation, tax compliance, internal controls, and process improvements
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and communication within the accounting function

What We Are Looking For

* Strong property accounting or real estate accounting experience
* Commercial and/or residential property portfolio experience
* CAM reconciliation and operating cost recovery experience
* Strong month-end, reporting, budgeting, and reconciliation skills
* Experience mentoring, supervising, or coordinating accounting staff
* Strong Excel skills
* Experience with Yardi or similar property management/accounting software
* CPA designation preferred, but strong hands-on property accounting experience is most important
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with property managers and finance leadership
* Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through

Location and Work Arrangement

This role is based in North Vancouver and is primarily office-based.

This will be best suited to someone already on the North Shore or genuinely comfortable commuting to North Vancouver on a regular basis.

Compensation

Salary is expected to be in the range of $110,000 to $125,000, depending on experience.
