About the facility : Working in an office environment at the Jeannie Bird Clinic, in community schools and will be required to travel to the 4 (four) outlying LLRIB communities.
About the position : Working 7.5-hour shifts (overtime maybe required). This position is responsible for the delivery of comprehensive youth education and prevention programs focused in the area of health and development. Must be self-directed and demonstrate communication and organizational skills.
Duties :
- Emphasize programs & services aimed at obesity, mental health, substance abuse, tobacco use & chronic conditions;
- Focus on a strategic approach to developing best practices, tools & resources that promote health & empower LLRIBHS communities;
- Provides briefing notes, needs assessment reports, community health promotion strategies, & reports as required;
- Liaises with other community-based programs and health promotion initiatives;
- Identify, recommend & implement events & activities needed to develop health promotion capacity within the organization as required;
- Ensures the issues of diversity, ethnicity, language & culture are reflected in health promotion planning & programs;
- Providing classroom presentations as well as one on one client education;
Qualifications :
Minimum Diploma in Health Science or related field; Two years of relevant experience, particularly in the area of community development and / or health promotion & education; Combination of relevant education & experience may be considered;Strong organizational skills & able to manage time & priorities;Ability to work independently, collaboratively and as a member of a team;Computer skills & experience with social media platforms & Microsoft Office including Power Point & Publisher;Excellent verbal, written communication & public relations skills;Comfortable presenting to small & large groups;Must possess a valid class 5 drive’s license & able to travel when requiredWorking with First Nations communities is an asset;Ability to speak / understand Cree is an asset.Share this :
