Job description

When you care deeply about the work you do, it’s rewarding to see it through from concept to completion. We partner with clients to provide both program management and construction management to strategize, plan, and implement projects that drive organizations forward. From hospitals and airports to university campuses, mass transit systems, water treatment facilities, mines, and wind farms, we've successfully managed thousands of projects.

Joining our team, turning visionary ideas into reality, will shape your future—and the future of your community.

We are strategizing, planning, and implementing projects that help clients achieve their organization’s objectives. Join our award-winning program management team and bring transformational project solutions to life.

Your Opportunity

Join a transformative rail and infrastructure project where safety is more than a requirement—it's a core value. As a key member of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) team, you will help shape and strengthen a proactive safety culture across complex construction environments. Working closely with project leaders, contractors, and stakeholders, you will champion innovative HSW initiatives, influence safe work practices, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by fostering collaboration, promoting industry best practices, and helping ensure every worker returns home safely each day while contributing to the successful delivery of a landmark infrastructure project.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular field audits and inspections in accordance with project safety assurance plan requirements.

  • Ensure corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) arising from incidents, observations, audits, and inspections are tracked and completed in a timely manner.

  • Conduct safety assurance reviews to verify that industry best practices are consistently implemented across applicable project activities.

  • Prepare required reports and provide data inputs for project reporting.

  • Collect and maintain records required for evaluating the effectiveness of safety programs.

  • Compile project-wide HSW KPIs and leading indicators and report findings to the Safety Director or designate to support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure timely reporting and investigation of incidents.

  • Verify that corrective and preventive actions are effectively implemented and sustained.

  • Develop and deliver best-practice guides, training materials, presentations, and briefing packages tailored to the needs of specific project stakeholders.

  • Perform additional duties as required to support project deliverables and key activities during Annual Service Plans.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience in underground construction safety, particularly tunneling projects.

  • Experience conducting field safety audits and inspections.

  • Extensive knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation.

  • Experience auditing Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

  • Strong technical knowledge of safety programs, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience in safety training, incident investigations, safety performance measurement, and injury management.

  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders, build consensus, and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities while meeting project schedules and deadlines.

  • Experience working on multidisciplinary rail and transit projects and/or complex civil infrastructure projects in brownfield and urban environments with adjacent infrastructure.

  • High level of integrity, accountability, dependability, and professionalism, with a demonstrated commitment to fulfilling responsibilities and obligations.

Education and Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field is preferred.

  • Professional designation or certification preferred (e.g., NCSO, CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent).

  • Minimum five (5) years of direct onsite construction safety management experience.

  • Experience working on railway, transit, or major infrastructure construction projects.

This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.
