We are seeking a results-oriented Materials Planner to join our Welland production team. We are a global pioneer in molten metal flow engineering, serving the steel and foundry industries across 38 countries. In this critical role, you will be directly responsible for the timely delivery of raw materials and components to support all plant production activities. Operating at the intersection of inventory control, logistics management, and vendor negotiations, you will focus heavily on maintaining optimal stock levels while minimizing working capital impacts. Responsibilities-Maintain timely and persistent communication with third-party vendors and suppliers to secure raw materials while protecting the best interests of the business.
-Interacted directly with trucking and freight companies to ensure pick-up requests are issued and tracked efficiently.
-Partner daily with the plant Scheduler to ensure material planning functions seamlessly align with evolving manufacturing demands.
-Monitor raw material levels closely to ensure minimum stock guidelines are maintained, and proactively address slow-moving or obsolete inventory.
-Evaluate and manage stock parameters with a clear understanding of the financial impact that excess stock levels have on company working capital.
-Collaborate daily with the Receiving Department to confirm material drop-offs, and act as an active participant on the annual physical inventory team.
-Compile, format, and supply relevant supply chain KPI data and operational tracking sheets to management
Qualifications-Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in an MRP-driven manufacturing setting.
-University degree or College diploma preferred, ideally in Operations, Supply Chain Management, or an equivalent field.
-High-level Microsoft Excel skills are required, including absolute comfort building and using pivot tables, macros, and complex formulas.
-Sound understanding of manufacturing resource planning workflows with a strong preference for candidates with SAP A1 user experience.
-Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and react quickly to sudden work environment demands.
-Master Excel Level is an asset.
-Previous experience working within the refractory minerals industry alongside a pre-existing familiarity with the specialized vendor base is an asset.
-Detailed understanding of foundational supply chain KPI metrics, including Days on Hand (DOH), Inventory Turns, and Leadtime Analysis is an asset
-Familiarity with standardized purchasing and procurement terminology is an asset.
